Because he is a narcissistic diva he will want to prove that the Panthers somehow wronged him. I don't see anywhere in the league where he would actually be a starter though.

Not a starter, but I def could see him landing somewhere over the summer.  If Carolina can play guys like Chris Ogbonnaya, Fozzy Whitaker and Tauren Poole in NFL games, there's a spot for DeAngelo Williams.  Probably won't be here, but teams can get decimated by injuries and lack of talent enough to snag DLo.

 

I hope he doesn't spend the next few years fighting to prove that he can still play.  Though his departure here was a little salty on his behalf, I'd really like to see him return in some capacity as a scout/advisor/rb coach.

Why would anyone want him?

 

He's not known for fumbling (10 lost fumbles on his career, or about 1 a year), he's content sharing carries, and he still does have a bit of a burst if you give him a decent hole to go through.

 

His ideal team would be one with a power back (like Matt Forte, for instance) in front of him who will grind at the defense the whole game. Then, towards the end, they could plug DeAngelo in, with the defense being weak, and see if he could break a good run. Is it preferable over a young speed back? No. But many teams don't have that luxury. He could be effective as a bit player like that for a team that doesn't have other options.
