Your Top 5 (realistically) at 25: Pre Free-Agency

I honestly think you guys are overrating Owa. There's no doubt he is a freak athlete and but he is so raw as a player and hasn't produced much. We got Ealy at 60...I know Getts love his DE's but this would be quite the reach. If Strong is gone I would not be too happy if he took Owa over Nelson Agholor.

1. Jaelen Strong- No brainer, kid has potential to push KB to #2.  Athletic kid who has shown what he can do vs NFL talent, putting up Big #'s despite facing NFL calibre DB's weekly.  Big Strong and fast with Great work ethic.  But #1 thing about him is he has Vice grip for hands and no one can rip the ball away from him.  Had Zero drops at his pro day.

2. Erek Flowers- Powerful OT that could be our LT down the road

3. Owamagbe Odighizuwa- Beast of a DE. Gettleman loves to build his team around the DL.  See 2 years ago the force of a D we had.

4. Humphries- Shooting up the Boards.  Local kid (went to Mallard Creek HS)

5. BPA (OT, WR, DE)

Owa could be had in the 2nd. His hips are a big concern.

I was thinking the same but I have a feeling he could be gone before we pick. Ealy was going to be a 1st round pick and ended up falling to the second so who knows what will happen. I wouldn't be against drafting Strong in the first and Owa in the second.

Mine are pretty much the same
1. Flowers

2. La'el Collins

3. Cameron Erving

4. Strong

5. DGB

I kinda feel we have to go LT in round 1 though..we really need to get Cam some protection. All those hits are getting him banged up and you could clearly see it effecting him in the games.

1. Devin Smith - Severely underrated right now. Best deep threat in the draft. Excellent hands. Willing blocker. Changes how defenses line up.

2. DJ Humphries - I expect him to be gone by pick 25, but if not, he has great upside as a blindside protector.

3. La'el Collins - Safest player in the draft in my opinion. He can play 4 positions on the offensive line and is the best pure run blocker available.

4. Landon Collins - Another guy I expect to be gone, but you never know. Best safety in a weak class, but is a thumper and can hold his own in short and intermediate coverage. Reminds me of Mike Mitchell a bit. Less speed but more technically sound and is a big hitter.

5.  Owamagbe Odighizuwa - 2nd best 4-3 DE in the draft. Can stop the run day 1 and will put pressure on the quarterback with his relentless style. If his medical checks out, he could rise in this list. Love, love, love how he plays. He's a monster to block.

  • DJ Humphries - Many experts, like Daniel Jeremiah, believe he is the top tackle in the draft and the most natural as a future LT in the NFL.  Great feet and has a mean streak. Reminds me of Ja'Wuan James
  • Shaq Thompson - A hybrid LB/SS that could fill a Kam Chancellor type role behind Kuechly and Davis.
  • Erick Flowers - Another big/athletic tackle that would be an instant upgrade at right or left.
  • Arik Armstead - a huge defensive end with tons of potential.  I think he may have one of the brightest futures at DE in the draft and worth a pick at 25.  He lacks quickness to get around tackles, but his size and strength make him impossible to guard 1v1.  Teams constantly double/triple teamed him or ran in the opposite direction. He reminds me of Calais Campbell.
  • Landon Collins - best safety in the draft and a position of need. Definitely have to consider him if he's still available.

    • Ppl want to trade Melo? Am I wrong for thinking that would be a bad idea?
    • Some of you act like one can't learn from experience over time. Just because you may not know what you're doing in 2018 doesn't mean that you don't know what you're doing in 2025. Frankly, you grow from experience, and success and excellence gives first-time applicants the hand probably 99.999% of the time.
    • It's an interesting topic of conversation as sports evolves. I think ultimately it would lead to a number of small market franchises folding though. Especially in the NBA where there are so many bad teams that have been bad for years and years in some cases already. But as it stands I think athlete pay draft or no draft aside has reached a point where we can and should realistically ask should they make that much compared to the average person. Now college athletes is a different conversation but even that reaches a breaking point. But we could go down the rabbit hole on this even further into overall entertainment and talk about actors making absurd sums too. In the end I think in sports the powers that be won't allow these changes to even be considered because it opens the door for so many other variables. But who knows how long sports like football will realistically be around after people like us pass on. We're only just now learning about things like CTE which the league and the sport in general will only be able to run away from for so long. As far as the NBA goes my understanding is viewership has been steadily going down for a number of reasons but one crucial aspect is key players missing so many games. The NBA has to figure that out regardless. Especially when considering fans who pay to see these athletes compete in person. But hey I guess let's just try to appreciate what we've got while it still exists in this form eh?
