Spoke to Tre Boston about Kurt Coleman addition. Boston on free safety spot: "I feel like it's my spot to lose."

 

 

I dunno about you but I am not completely sold on Boston. He almost pulled a Nakamura with that interception Bene had against the Saints. He flies around a lot but I have seen him miss a fair share of balls flying around and if not for inaccurate passes or someone to clean up, it may be much worse. I think the competition might help push him. Also he was injured a bit so we would see how he plays with a full offseason program.

Ultimately, as the roster sits right now I think it is.  However, if he goes in expecting it to be handed to him and doesn't work his ass off, then lose it is exactly what he'll do.  There's still a draft coming up next month too.

He was individually responsible for two TDs against the Seahawks, one in each game.  Gotta get better son, they're going after you

Yea, you did. They're in the threads labeled "Gettlemen is a draft genius', and 'there is not OT in this or last draft that can help us' threads.

Has to get better at not letting guys get behind him. He also has to continue to get better at taking better angles to get to the ball carrier. If he improves in these two areas I'd welcome him as the starting safety. Until then, IMO I believe both spots are up for grabs.

I thought the same thing with Lester last year and that did not work out well. Hope he can hold down one of the safety spots this year.

He came back from the injury and won the starting job. He earned it. Coleman isn't going to walk in and instantly take the job from him. Whether or not Boston is the long-term answer, it is his job right now.

He's right, it's his job to lose, but if he doesn't think he can lose it with poor play he's out of his mind, just ask Robert Lester.

Geez. I thought he did great for a rookie. The defense instantly got better when he replaced Decoud.
