David Newton has hunch, WR (or RB) in the first (a "WR in the 1st" feel good thread)

top dawg

After watching top 10 WR highlights, Aghalor is top 3 WR in this class draft hands down, might be even best WR.. His route running and speed are top notch plus he catches everything with his hands (no body catches). He will destroy secondaries if single covered.

If we take Devin Smith in the first I might punch my television.

Perhaps you should stream the draft on an old, antiquated laptop. That way you can pick it up and slam it to the floor without regard to its value.  Hell, take it outside and stomp on it and kick it around.  An old CRT TV might make you feel even better. You'll feel much better in the moment, and when you come back to your senses.

Hell, I would love to get a hold of my wife's uncle's big, old, projector television.  The old dude has all the technical knowledge in the world, but still treats that damned monstrosity like a giant crucifix in his 1970ish split-level's semi-basement temple. Boy would I love to pick one of his old, heavy bowling trophy's up and send it through the middle of the screen, just to force him to finally buy that 70 inch Aquos HDTV that I know that he subconsciously desires.

Man, I'm surprised everyone is hyping Smith over Agholor. I see Agholor as the best reciever after Cooper, White and Parker. He is a rich mans Greg Jennings and would be our 2nd best receiver on day 1. Elite route running, good hands, maybe the best YAC ability in the draft. He is also a long term answer at returner. The only knock on Agholor is his strength limits him in blocking, but he is a wiling blocker. That just isn't enough to keep from drafting him to me.

I just don't see a run first team taking a WR in the first two years in a row.  I think it will be OL or defense.

The Panthers already have their rushers. If they draft a RB in the first 2 rounds, it will be a waste.

We know Newton gets 120 carries in the season.

We know Rivera wants Jonathan Stewart to carry the ball 15 times a game. (240 carries)

Tolbert goes for 100 carries a season.

The Panthers will run the ball 480 times in the season. That leaves 20 carries for the next back in line. A drafted RB will compete with Fozzy for those carries. If they do beat Fozzy out, they will just serve as a reserve in case of injury. And if injury does occur the most they see is 80 carries on the season.

Use a later round pick on RB is the obvious answer. Josh Robinson - Mississippi St (his hands are as big as KBs), John Crockett - North Dakota St, and Ameer Abdullah - Nebraska would all be good fits in the Panthers offense as a reserve RB.

As for taking a WR, that would be a waste too if it is a #2 WR. Plenty of good #2 WR in rounds 3 to 5.

Owa Odighizuwa, Erik Kendricks, or Shaq Thompson are the likely candidates unless one of the top 3 OTs fall, which I doubt.
