Post-draft grades are akin to pre-draft mocks?  Why take them seriously?  They are less for informational purposes than they are for entertainment purposes. At least that's how I look at them.

Anyone who has been following the team for years can easily discern whether an article/opinion is complete bullshit, based on nothing but a general narrative born out of a lack of understanding about the nuances of the team, or written by someone who actually has something more than a general knowledge of the team.  I mean, it's so damned easy to spot, why get all up in a tizzy about it, much less care?

Let me tell you, when I want to really get a feel about a player or the inner workings of another team, I go to a team forum. Granted, most of them are not as good as the Huddle (and I say that without my homer glasses), but you can still find the more accurate information rather than an incorrect national narrative.

I don't always agree with everyone hear... :P ...but at least I know that most of us are basing information on something other than the foolishness that I hear from more than a few of the national types.  And this is not to say that everyone in the national media is clueless because they likely don't have the time to really know a team like fans do, but at least they do make it their business to do their homework sometimes. Sifting through the wheat and the chaff is just another day at the office.

We are consistently put anywhere between 18 and 28 in preseason power rankings year in and year out.

I wouldn't even give them the clicks.

That said, Atlanta is going to be a pain in our ass this year. Possibly Tampa too.

The Saints are gonna be garbage for at least the next 2 years.

So, according to their assessment of the Panthers, the team has improved everywhere, but they have neglected the OL and taken a step back?

If this were 2014, I would agree.  Now my question to them is how do you get worse than Byron Bell, Nate Chandler, and Mike Remmers as the starting OTs? I like Mike Remmers as a quality back up, but he is not a starting OT. The Panthers have improved their OL, and any OL without Byron Bell starting is an improvement.

So, this is the best OL Cam Newton has had in his career. While this is not an endorsement of the OL as an all pro squad, I do see this squad as average and all NFL starting caliber players. Listed below are Cam Newton's OLs in his career. In bold, are the players an NFL QB count on. In Cam Newton's best season he has had half an OL. This will be the first time he has a full OL, and the best OL depth he has ever had with the Panthers. I see that OL staying together for the next 3 seasons with a possible upgrade at LT in a year or two.

2015: Michael Oher LT, Andrew Norwell LG, Ryan Kalil C, Trai Turner RG, and Daryl Williams RT.

2014: Byron Bell LT, Amini Silatolu LG, Ryan Kalil C, Trai Turner RG, and Nate Chandler RT

2013: Jordan Gross LT, Travelle Wharton LG, Ryan Kalil C, Chris Scott RG, and Byron Bell RT.

2012: Jordan Gross LT, Amini Silatolu LG, Geoff Hangartner C, Garry Williams RG, and Byron Bell RT

2011: Jordan Gross LT, Travelle Wharton LG, Ryan Kalil C, Geoff Hangartner RG, and Byron Bell RT

    • Saw this show up in my new feed. Nice to see a couple of our rookies making it into the top 5 so far, even if it is a pff measure... From https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-top-15-rookies-week-9-2025 ... 4. TE Mitchell Evans, Carolina Panthers (78.7) Evans struggled in the Panthers’ tight win over the Packers, finishing with a 41.8 PFF overall grade — third worst among tight ends this week. He was not targeted in the game and played only one snap in pass protection. He did log 15 run-blocking snaps, and although he earned a 68.9 PFF run-blocking grade in zone looks (seven snaps), his 39.0 mark in gap schemes (second worst for the week) dragged him down to a 46.6 PFF run-blocking grade overall — sixth worst for the week. Despite seeing zero targets over his past two games, Evans still leads the Carolina tight end group with a 74.3 PFF receiving grade. He has caught all nine of his targets for 90 yards, six first downs and two touchdowns. Evans also leads the Panthers’ tight end group in PFF run-blocking grade (72.2). He has recorded a 20.5% positive play rate across 175 snaps.  5. WR Tetairoa McMillan, Carolina Panthers (78.6) McMillan had a better day against the Packers, recording four catches for 46 yards. Most of that production came in the first quarter via two 16-yard catches — one of which he snatched from Carrington Valentine’s hands, who was in perfect position to break up the pass. McMillan accounted for three first downs on the day, although Green Bay was able to limit his impact after the catch, holding him to 0.8 yards after the catch per reception. McMillan now has 41 catches for 558 yards — a top-15 mark. He is also tied for second with 19 explosive gains of 15-plus yards. Three of McMillan’s catches against the Packers came between the numbers, bringing him to 22 for 318 yards and 19 first downs (tied for second most) this season. He owns a 26.1% threat rate and a 76.6 PFF receiving grade between the numbers. He also ranks in the top 10 in explosive gains (10) and yards after the catch per reception (5.5) within that area of the field.
    • At least we don't need to hear overreacting about towels ...
    • Actually there is, try being a Charlotte Hornets fan. I mean the team fuging moved at its peak and hasn't recovered since and that was 25 years ago
