A little trouble in paradise (Seattle)? RW contract talks

Recommended Posts

He should get more. And Luck will likely get more after seeing the other two unfold. I love where we are.

Which is the reason why if you are Cam and Wilson you simply wait for the Colts to give Luck his overrated contract and then ask for the same.

And Wilson, Newton, Luck, Tannehill, etc. are ALL going for broke. They were underpaid for the first part of their careers. They put in the time, proved themselves to be franchise QBs and now they expect to be compensated.

Nothing wrong with that.

Lol at the game manager Russell Wilson. He's a team player. Lol. There is no way he is deserving of the highest paying contract in NFL history and the Seahawks will find a new game manager if he doesn't come to his senses. I pray that Cam doesn't go full stupid when negotiations begin.

I wouldn't be too giddy over this guys considering Cam is gonna take whatever Russ gets and use that as his STARTING POINT for negotiations.

I am sure he will but considering we can franchise him for at least 2 years before he is making 20 million and there is no signing bonus and it is a series of 1 year contracts we get him for at least 7 years for less money than signing him long term. Getting 40 million guaranteed as a signing bonus is a strong incentive to sign. Plus Wilson has been more successful than Cam in less time. Cam has the stats but Wilson has what is valued in the league which is wins and stayed healthy. Truthfully Cam should not get as much as Wilson based on results.

Why? The guy wants to get paid. We all do. He is an idiot because he isn't worth what he is asking for but you can't blame him. This is a capitalist country after all.

Yes but I just get tired of the ego of wanting to be the highest player. Making a lot of money is one thing and i don't blame them but ditch the "I deserve more than all the others" attitude.

    • After listening to Morgan's presser twice, I came away with some key beliefs. First of all, I don't think he's a bullshitter. What you see is what you get. When he says something, he means it.  The Teppers really have evolved as owners. Morgan has mentioned how they're easy to work with--a pleasure to work with a few times now. There seems to be a good relationship between all of them (and include Dave Canales on that). We'll see if it lasts. Yes, no one wanted to come to Carolina with the previous management, but that seems to have changed. The team signed arguably the top Edge, LB and OT on the market, two of them on pretty good deals and one on what I'll say is "not a bad one." And, credit Sunshine Dave "Flowers and Cotton Candy" Canales for helping to change the culture. Morgan mentioned getting guys--and I'm paraphrasing--that are not only great football players but great people. Don't look for us to be acquiring any James Pearce types anytime soon, just saying. We'll see if that holds true in the future. Dan Morgan really has set up the Panthers to take the BPA/BAP. He mentioned it at least a couple of times, and he doesn't seem pressured to pinpoint a particular position. He just wants quality players that will help the team. This is how it's going to be (to your joy or dismay, probably for as long as he's here), and personally I love it. Many of us know how Morgan was when he played: aggressive! That's what he's going to be when making acquisitions. He explicitly said it, and emphasized it. All avenues are open (think FA, waivers...the draft)! Personally, as long as it's controlled aggression and not reckless aggression, I love it.  On KP: "Mobility is big in this league."  He basically says if another QB is the BPA while drafting--we're going by our board, people--we're going to add them.        ...
    • Canes are so fascinating. Despite inconsistent defense and poor goalie play they keep winning.
    • I like Morgan's approach but I'll wait for a few winning seasons before giving too much praise.
