CIN Rookie LB Paul Dawson compared to Luke

"Then there's Dawson, the final pick of the third round in this year's draft. At one time, Dawson was projected as a first-round pick and the best 4-3 linebacker in this year's draft.

That was that case with Luke Kuechly going into the 2012 draft. He ended up going ninth overall to the Panthers, where he's become the best inside linebacker in football. Trapasso called Dawson a prototype of Kuechly, which should make Bengals fan smile.

Prototype -- Luke Kuechly, Carolina Panthers: He has the athleticism to frequently fly to the football, can take on blocks then shed them and is comfortable running down the seam with tight ends.

He's the most reliable middle linebacker in football.

Rookie -- Paul Dawson, Cincinnati Bengals: Though he didn't time nearly as well as Kuechly, his play recognition and reaction are supremely impressive.

He has the size, aggressiveness and game speed to instantly translate to the NFL after playing in the wide open Big 12 at TCU."

The comments are funny. One fan lives next to Luke's Aunt and says he will try to get Luke to sign with the Bengals. [emoji1]

Sure, go ahead and compre some 4th round guy to a NFL Defensive POY.

Ridiculous. Many LB picked past the early 4th will be lucky to be starting before his rookie contract is up and that goes for a lot of mid-to-late round draftees.

I mean, I like to compare Shaq to TD...but they were both first rounders and both played some coverage coming into the league.

Meh, they're excited about their player.  I'm not gonna dog them for it.  They got a guy who was widely considered to be the best 4-3 LB in the draft prior to the combine at the bottom of the 3rd.  Yeah, he ran a terrible time, but he was probably still a good gamble at that point in the draft.

I'd say it's meant as a compliment.

As far as realistic? Well, there's a link on the page to an article comparing Cedric Ogbuehi to Anthony Munoz, so...

The comparison is that they are both highly regarded Tackles selected in the first by Cinci after injuries. How is that wrong?
