Saints better without Graham?

Am I the only one that thinks the Saints will be better without Graham, and return to their dangerous high powered offense? By giving him up they freed up over 20 mil in cap, received an all-pro center, and a 1st. But more importantly, they removed a player that did only one thing, catch red zone TD's. Graham played limited ST's, couldn't block (wasn't even on the field if blocking was required), and could easily be taken out if the play with a hard jam at the line. The Saints tried to force the ball to Graham all last season, more than not he was the first read, and then the only read. We (Carolina) always knew how to slow him down, jam him at the line and cover him over top. Brees has always been his best and most annoying to play against when he dinks and dunks and takes the best read available. He never forcex it and killed you deep when you fell asleep and blew your coverage. Now that Graham is out of the picture, I think they are forced to go back to that style of ball. If Brees is dinking and dunking, including dropping off to Spiller in the flats, it's going to be a real slug fest when we square up. Am I intrigued? Yes. Am I worried? Not if TD, Luke, and Shaq have anything to say about it. Cardiac Champs!

They didn't clear $20M in cap... They got a center who can't stay healthy and isn't even all-pro caliber at this point anyways... And they got a late first round pick (basically a 2nd at that point) for a player that would be worthy of a top 5 to 10 pick or more... No, they're not better without him. They're not necessarily worse, but they did not by any means improve by trading him.

Yeah that's a hard stretch to follow. You don't improve by giving away players who are arguably the most effective at their position in the NFL. They cleared some cap space but can't do anything with it but pay Brees,

they're definitely not. max unger was a nice addition, and i think they're smart by starting to transition to a defensive focus with draft picks and FA acquisitions since they'll have to be in position to let a young guy take over with some kind of support behind him.

but make no mistake, jimmy graham did things for the saints offense that they're going to sorely miss. you don't have to account for max unger on every play the way you do graham. we routinely dropped linebackers and safeties to bracket him all day long at the expense of run defense and often had to put corners on an island as a result. now they don't have anyone with nearly that level of athleticism at the position, which allows us to keep safeties high to give our (improving) corners assistance, as well as letting backers play zone and make whatever dipshit they're replacing him with (isn't it mercedes lewis? he's getting old) beat us.

short ass brees and that ugly bullshit talking mole that points out his open receivers to him are going to have to spend more time in a collapsing pocket because nobody's getting open, and when he inevitably flings a deep pass (with ever-worsening accuracy, as we've seen in 2013 and 2014) we'll have the secondary cover it.

don't listen to the hype, trading graham was a death knell.
