Week 2: JJ Watt vs. Michael Oher

Guys are winning superbowls(Revis, Sherman) out there on teams with top 5 defenses can't even be ranked top 10. The NFL is a fug up sport that worries only about marketing. I guess they're not satisfied with Sherman/Revis as face of their league. Always trying to infect the sport with the same social cancer that affects society. Leave the sport be. Thank god they can't infiltrate my beloved NBA with this nonsense. Lebron wouldn't have any of that.

knock that poo off. Not everything is about racism and you trying to constantly infect every thread with your silly rhetoric is gonna get you a vacation.

yeah i just don't see it on this one. i try to keep an open mind and realize that biases tend to be deeply situated and seemingly innocent, but if your main supporting argument is that jj watt is actually just a marginal player then gooooood lord you have no legs to stand on.

imho (as a white guy) the real problems re: race, society, and the nfl relate to things like language (like the 'articulate' trope) that guide impressions and affect the structures that determine important outcomes like racial makeup of positions, coaching or otherwise. why dilute real, critical problems with pretend problems that do nothing but discredit you when you talk about that real ones to people who are skeptical to begin with?

Don't see a race issue here. It is hard for a defensive player to be the face of the league. An elite corner will never be the face of the league. You might see one that is extremely popular if they also return ints, punts, and kicks for TDs. The nature is the position is that if you are good, QBs won't test you. Sherman and Revis are involved in how many pass plays a game? 3? 4? Defensive linemen, especially in a pass-happy league, get a chance to be relevant on almost every play.

Dude had 41 sacks in two years.41 SACKS IN TWO YEARS. And he's not a OLB in a 3-4 scheme. Throw in 3 tds and excellent run stoppage and I don't see how anyone can say he's not the best player in the league. That's Madden poo.

most valuable player? No. But he's the best player in the league.

If he is one on one it will be very ugly. If we double team him it will be less ugly

more likely we will just mobe him out of the play. One great player on a bad defense does not mean much. Kinda like Cam putting up record rookie numbers on a bad team.
