But the Panthers finally can start to build around their young star. Carolina drafted big receiver Devin Funchess to pair with Kelvin Benjamin and Pro Bowl tight end Greg Olsen. Ginn was brought back to provide a deep threat, with 2012 New York Jetssecond-round pick Stephen Hill making strides on the practice squad.

"It's unbelievable a difference a year a makes," receivers coach Ricky Proehl told ESPN.com. "We've got every weapon in our arsenal."

Newton has a viable receiving corps, but Carolina's offensive line remains a weakness.Michael Oher was brought in to play left tackle after a disastrous season with theTennessee Titans, and there will be competition for the other tackle spot between fourth-round draft pick Daryl Williams and Jonathan Martin.

A pretty good write up. The only glaring issue is that this writer doesn't seem to know that Mike Remmers exists.

Pretty good write up. I don't know that D-line is a question mark just yet. I mean, worse case scenario we have the exact same line we had last year... More than likely Frank or Ealy step up to improve over the Horton/Addison combo that we saw frequently.

edit: and he is high if he thinks Corey Brown is getting a look at returns.

Article states this is likely Big Money CJ's last season in Carolina. Any truth to this? I figured he would be here at least another couple seasons. Haven't looked at his contract situation lately.

We could save $9M in cap space if we cut him.  It's possible, but Gentleman won't cut him just to save $9M in cap space without having an answer.  He loves his pass rushers.

GMan talked after the draft about regrouping before day 2 and that our board was getting picked clean before making the move up to get Funchess.  2+2 says Preston Smith and/or Mario Edwards had to be way up on our board.  So happy things worked out as they did but it's obviously a big priority now regardless.

    • At this point the Tepper's seem to be leading you around by the nose based on how much time you spend carrying water for them so I'm not surprised you're struggling. We are the only team who saw fit to install Andy Dalton with his zero career playoff wins as a culture cornerstone and a key mentor. Even the putrid Saints wanted no parts of that. Truth hurts 🤷‍♂️
    • They have drafted two QB's since they took Hurts in the 2020 Draft. Tanner McKee(6th - 2023) and Kyle McCord(6th - 2025). In that span we have drafted Bryce Young(1st - 2023) and Matt Corral(3rd - 2022). Technically, we have invested significantly higher draft capital on QB's(albeit one less than they). It's not the investement that is the issue, it's the results. Corral was literally not a rosterable player with a THIRD ROUND PICK. We gave up a king's ransom for Bryce to basically get Davis Mills results(so far).
    • No QB from the draft or free agency was going to change this being a losing season for us. I mean we’re rebuilding, everything we’re doing is meant to be for winning tomorrow.
