If Ward doesn't make the cut, I'll be upset. Forget the hype for a minute, we just need all the protection for Cam we can provide. Lee is an old school, bruising FB who paves the way for our RBs and picks up blitzes from LBs and DBs like a boss.

Why the fug not. Especially since LBs have gotten smaller. I want to see him lay out those big mouth defenders like Wagner, Sherman and Chancellor like bitches.

with oher looking shaky ward might make the roster simply because he's such a good blocker. if he's versatile enough to leak out into the flats and catch a few balls he'd be someone else defenses would have to consider.

i wont get ahead of myself, but to be fair to Oher, Jeremy said he did better today. hopefully "doing better" continues through the preseason and into the regular season

This is my thing, I want him to make it.  Damn sure over somebody like Brockel.  But Rivera loves his damn vets, and who would they kick off the roster for him?

By the sounds of it, this is the guy I'd want at FB when we line up in the I.  He could make the active over Brockel (We still have Brockel right? haha)

Let's look at the landscape:  Who is our blocking TE? (A: A hybrid TE/FB?)

Who is our FB?  (A: A hybrid FB/RB?)

Who is our LT?   (A: Below average in pass protection)

I say Ward is a good fit because he can stonewall LBs in pass protection, lead block for runners, and help inferior OTs block DEs.  He can catch passes and play special teams.  He is the closest thing we have had to Brad Hoover since Fiametta.  I say he wins a job, but here is the good news:  If he is put on the PS, how many teams use a FB now?  He should be fairly safe.

They don't appreciate it now.

Once he starts hitting guys that are wearing other uniforms, they'll appreciate it very much.

If he can consistently stonewall first string pass rushers and linebackers, he needs to be on the active roster every game day.

If he can't, practice squad.
