Reggie Wayne?

If KB has a significant injury, am I the only one who would love to see us bring Wayne in?

Much better than Welker and think he would be a great PERSON to add to our WR corps.  He is very much a leader and still has some game left to him, I think he would be great for Cam to learn from too seeing as he spent all those years with Manning and learning from him

I wouldn't be opposed, but he would be more of a Cotch type signing than anything else. Fact of the matter is, there is no one on the open market with the level of KB's talent.

I think I'd rather just throw Funch into the #1 WR role and roll with the growing pains. Will help him immensely next season.

Honestly I don't want him. If it's bad, I would love to see a few of the young guys get a shot.  Next man up mentality. These kids are hungry for a chance. I just hope KB is fine

The problem is we don't have another #1 to step into the role.

We can't be replacing KB with Byrd or Boykin in the active roster.

Funchess, Cotchery, Brown, Ginn, Bersin, Byrd/Boykin just isn't enough firepower as there is no true #1 there, and if Funchess is considered the #1, I don't think we have a #2 in that group either.  It's a bunch of #3 guys with Funchess being a wildcard right now.

I'd be much more comfortable with Wayne and Funchess as our 1 and 2 than Funchess and any of the other WRs currently on the roster.  We'll still need others to step up even with someone like Wayne, but to expect Brown/Ginn/Cotchery to replace KB's production would be absurd.

He'll be 37 in November.  He's not a #1 or #2 any more.  Just as well off with Cotch at this point in their careers.

At this point in his career he's still a steady receiver and could do a good job for any team looking for a complimentary option, but he's no longer the leading guy on a team. Then again, we wouldn't really need that from him because our receiving options would include: Olsen (TE), Funchess, Ginn, Cotchery, Corey, Bersin, Boykin, and Byrd. Now one might argue that some of those options aren't that appealing, but I would argue that this would be the opportunity for them to step up in a big way and prove their worth to this team. After all, Funchess was drafted to become a big time receiver for this team, and guys like Corey and Bersin will want to establish themselves as solid #3 and #4 options on the depth chart. So adding Reggie Wayne wouldn't be in the hope that he recaptures his glory days, rather we would want him to brings his vast experience, his ability to make important catches, and his winning mentality to this team. Even at this point in his career a healthy Reggie Wayne would be a useful weapon for Cam.

I totally get what you are saying but I think we get caught up with the terms #1 and #2 receivers. The last two Super Bowl champs won with receivers by committee. I do agree that KBs production will be missed. I'm just not a big fan of signing an old receiver who may not be better than anyone on the roster. We still have Olsen as well. I just don't think it's all doom and gloom like everyone is putting it. We still have cam who has a few familiar faces out there and he trust plus a stingy defense. We wil be fine I believe

The young guys getting a shot is great in theory, but I'll trust Gman and the gang to evaluate the situation and make the appropriate decision based upon their experience and knowledge of the personnel.  In other words, if they bring someone in, it's probably because it's necessary.

    • After watching Dan for 3 yrs now, I think I understand his plan. It’s a simple plan that should work for the long run.     I saw some of this last yr. Dan wants a vet and a young player at each position. I really think we go OT if one they like there. Moton is aging, Icky will not be back until 27, if ever. We need to get ahead of the tackle problem
    • You are just stressing too much about these particular positions. You want to upgrade from Bryce and I understand that but you aren’t going to really get that without getting into a bidding war for a QB2 potential QB1 like Willis. You could possibly trade for Mills or the backup for Chicago but they are still gambles and their teams will won’t decent picks.  Again the Eagles thought KP was a capable enough backup to trade for him once their backup was hurt and won a Super Bowl with him as QB2. The point is most teams aren’t rolling with some stud QB2/3 that is going to push even a bottom tier starter. They are better off the building their roster in other areas. The Rams are rolling with Bennett right now as QB2 for example.  The goal is winning absolutely. We overachieved last year even with stumbling into the playoffs. Another year and this staff needs to take the next step in building a team. Will Grier has little to no impact on that….
    • Three straight first round WRs is straight up Matt Millen poo. Considering the draft capital we have tied up on Bryce after that trade we would basically have spent damn near all of our draft capital in recent years on QB and WR just to put one of the most anemic passing offenses in the league on the field. Clown show poo.
