Opinions: trade with N.Y Giants for J.Jones

Throwing this out for discussion. D.G still tight with Giants F.O. I would think. Beason has more knees problems last I heard. We have a couple of young LB'ers that may help them. What does the huddle think of James Jones in a trade for Klein or Mayo. I know James is 31, but still has tread left. May not be a number 1, but would definitly help. James on a one year deal with the Giants. Yes or no?

Not sure why you felt this deserved its own thread. I mentioned James Jones as a possible cut candidate last week but he had a good game against the Jets and is expected to make the team now. Victor Cruz is also nursing a calf injury so until he gets healthy I don't see the Giants dealing Jones or Randle. Randle being in a contract year would be a good trade target if Cruz wasn't hurt.

I've been reading reports throughout the web about Eagles WR, Riley Cooper. Some reports have been saying that he has been quiet this off season and had a lack luster year in 2014. The man is 27, 6'4" 230 lbs and is going into his 6th season. I'm not saying he can replace KB, but I believe he could be a serviceable WR for us this year and would provide Cam with another tall red zone option. I've been reading rumors around the web that the Eagles might explore a trade for Cooper, because Kelly is using his younger WRs.

What are the thoughts of a trade for Riley Cooper?

Cooper was the worst WR in the NFL last year. That isnt hyperbole. According to PFF, he was the literal worst WR in the league.

we can do better.

Cooper was never good. Honestly he's not much better than Bersin. Just got more opportunities. As for trading for James Jones that would be completely ridiculous. He's a #5/6 who's lucky to be on an NFL roster at this point. Why the hell would we trade anything for him? As has been brought up I would like the idea of Randle but I don't think they'll trade him for what we'd be willing to give up. Cruz is completely questionable how good he'll be after the injury and while Beckham is a monster you can't just rely on one guy. Look at what happened in Detroit before they got Tate.

    • Exactly He's played two seasons and started 28 games. He's well beyond the point of being able to point to 2 or 3 games and being able to say, "THAT is the QB he is and will be in the future" Of course he can get there, but anyone trying to use just those couple of games to rank his place amongst the games QB's today and their full career's worth of playing at that level, is just asinine. Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, Burrow, Hurts, Herbert, Daniels, Stafford, Goff, Geno, Purdy, Baker, Love, Dak, Tua, Kyler, Lawrence That's 17 QB's right there that have played better over their careers than Bryce has played at his best.  And I'm not saying they're all studs or guys I'd want to be our QB moving forward, Tua for example I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole, but his body of work is a million times better than Bryce's has been. It's also not including any of the other QB's drafted in 2023/2024 other than Daniels. So again, say you believe in Bryce, say you think he's going to prove he can and should be our QB of the future, that's all fair and totally fine. But nobody can say he's been an above average QB in his career thus far, it's just an asinine notion.
    • I'd think we could get one of those from Dallas for... whatever.
