$20 mill in cap space next year AFTER Cam/Luke signed.

So, forgive me because I made a thread a couple weeks ago asking how we only have 9 million in cap space, well I am embarrassed to admit that I was wrong. Going back to "over the cap" website, the 9 million figure came from the dead money column and by mistake I read that as though it was our cap space.

I went and looked today and going into next season we will have 20 plus million in cap space and that's after our two franchise players are locked up.

Will next year be the year we can finally be the kids that get the Xbox one/PS4 for Christmas when it comes to Free Agency as opposed to the bundled PS3 with a copy of Madden that is three years old?! Let's hope we can finally be players in FA now with both the money and the piece of mind knowing our two franchise players are locked up for the future.

Gettleman won't overpay (market value of players always to be debated) for anyone, but the odds of a higher-profile signing definitely go way up.  Depending on how the team performs this year (e.g. the WRs really stepping up, CBs regressing, etc), I think we could definitely see a bigger name acquired at a position of need.

Exactly. I don't expect Gman to go full Suh and sign a guy to 100 mill plus but a Torrey Smith type signing is reasonable

Would be lovely if Alshon didn't want to stay in Chicago and Getts wanted to throw a little money at someone. But a more likely candidate would be a Brian Quick or someone similar. Could also be a few decent OTs out there should Oher not work out.

I don't expect to go sign AJ Green...but I do think we see our first "significant" signing.

    • Watching Williams last night, guy has an arm and nfl ability  i see no future with Young.  either a player has nfl ability or they dont  cant survive on 20 or less points a game
    • Fowler: Bucs 23, Panthers 16. Baker Mayfield only won a single game when he was an unimpressive Carolina starter, but somehow he’s 5-0 when playing AGAINST the Panthers. For the Panthers to pull off this upset, they’ll need to score at least in the mid-20s. With Tampa Bay relatively healthy following a mini-bye (and Mike Evans’ return is huge), it feels like this will be too tough a task. Kaye: Bucs 24, Panthers 20. The win-loss-win-loss streak comes to an end. It’s hard to trust the play-calling following the loss to the New Orleans Saints. The Panthers know what’s on the line, but they also knew last week, too. It’ll be close; I just have trouble trusting a positive outcome after a defeating one on the road. Zietlow: Panthers 38, Bucs 35. This prediction goes against conventional wisdom, but then again, conventional wisdom doesn’t seem to apply to these Panthers. This group, after all, has yet to lose back-to-back contests since Weeks 1 and 2. I think they win this one to make Week 18 interesting — and yes, that’s even with motivated Baker Mayfield and future Hall of Famer Mike Evans in good form. Why not?
    • Sam developed into a different player after he mostly sat for a year and learned a ton by being in that QB room under Shannahan in San Francisco.  Then he went to the Vikings who have a poo load of talent and another genius level offensive mind at HC in Kevin O Connel. I think they genuinely built up his confidence in a way he never did in New York or Charlotte.  He would not have been the same player if he stayed here IMO. Especially if he had been involved in that disaster season with Frank Reich in 2023, that might have cooked his confidence for good.  I guess you could argue we wouldn't have been that bad if we also kept cmc and dj i guess.
