Reasons to be Optimistic

Lot's of Debbie downers around here lately after wins. I get that we aren't perfect, but we have plenty to be excited about as Panther Fans. Case in point:

• We are 2-0. This is a good thing despite how many people are acting.
• Our offense (Cam) move the ball on a solid defense in the Texans. JJ Watt got his stats, but he was held at bay by our undrafted RT that was scooped from the practice squad last year. Watt got himself a Rem-Job he won't soon forget
• Turner Pancake of Watt on the TD pass to Ginn
• Cam Newton is as agile as an asian Gymnast
• Funchess and Norwood, guys we are going to depend on later in the year, received increased playing time. 
• Shaq Thompson looked much improved over last week. He was flying everywhere.
• The best player on our team and our starting DT were both out today and the defense still held strong. If we can get them both back healthy we are looking good moving forward.
• Norman is playing lights out right now. 
• The refs were a little flag happy today, and if we can cut out some of those boneheaded penalties then the game was nowhere near as close.
• All flaws from the game today are correctable. 
• Nic Cage is smiling down upon us with good fortune and prosperity.
• The Saints are still a dumpster fire.
• My wife is being induced tomorrow and going to give birth to another panther fan. 

I think, like last year, our biggest competition will be Atlanta. They aren't the hot garbage they were a year ago, but they are still quite beatable and it certainly seems like they got lucky the past two weeks in close games. Either way I'm excited and you should be too.

I'm quite excited about this year, and have been since training camp.  We have a real opportunity developing, and even with the injuries our less than stellar WR situation, these guys are playing hard and finding ways to win. I think we correct these mistakes we talk about so much and this team is going to fine. Oh, and someone please squash the injury bug; we've been bitten enough.

Just a quick stat:  5 of Houston's 21 1st downs in the game (24%) came on penalties. (compared to 0 1st downs on penalties for the Jags last week ).  That came close to costing us the game on that final Houston drive.  Definitely something that must, and I'm sure WILL, be corrected.  We did very well last year in terms of few penalties.
