Well tomorrow is the 10 year anniversary of the Saints screw job

Now I know, technically that game was a week one game. But if your a true Panther fan you have not forgotten badly we got bent over that day. Let's rewind shall we?

Katrina had just recently hit the dump known as New Orleans. People cried about it as the greatest national tragedy in our nations history. Sympathy for all things New Orleans was coming in loads and loads of dump trucks, including the poor Saints. Their week 1 opponent? The Carolina Panthers IN Carolina.

Now this year our Panthers were having the rare occasion of being one of the very best teams in the league (frankly, the best in the NFC). The saints, however, were easily gutter trash on the field. Absolutely horrible.

The refs, the whole game, totally favored the saints, helping them to make sure to have the inspirational win. This was never more apparent then right before the halftime. Not once, but TWICE OUR wide receivers apparently stepped out of bounds before catching a touchdown pass. First the legendary smitty (if you remember the year he had) and then the always technical and smart Rickey Proehl also stepped out. BOTH OF THEM IN A ROW. If you saw the plays, you remember that it was horse crap. The whole game was one giant screw job to honor the Saints.

The saints went on to earn the second pick in the draft and stink up the whole league. We went on to be 11-5. Now why was this such a screw job?

It was bad enough that we were screwed out of this game. But it also costed us a home game in the playoffs. So we had to go on the road against the Giants, Bears AND Seattle. That road gauntlet proved too difficult. Had we one home game, our guys would have been a little more rested, but if you remember the Seattle game, our guys were absolutely depleted and run down. We started dropping like flies. All because of that week one game. (Tampa somehow won the division.)

Now if you know me personally, you know I DESPISE blaming the refs and I really do not ever believe in this kind of thing EVER. But God help me if the refs were not swinging in favor for the Saints that game. My grandma and me both still remember and talk about it. I will never forget and NEVER FORGIVE this crap. Wins are earned not given.

I hope Jerry tells Ron that if we are winning 50-0 tomorrow with 1 second left in the game, throw it deep for the end zone and keep scoring.  100-0 win tomorrow would barely satisfy my bloodlust for a Saints loss.

Never forget.

Lol. So week 1 was the reason you lost in the playoffs? How about the loss to the division champs in December? That would have gotten you a home game.

What a reach!

Hey it's that guy who we can hold responsible for not approving accounts at saints report. Get him or something. I was even going to sponsor the site to grease the wheels

Some gutter slut from NOLA in her beads and butt plugs or whatever they wear down there kept giving me the finger and proudly declaring she was surrounded by Carolina Pussies.

I tried to ignore it and move on towards my car.

This must have agitated her as she began following me and my friend chanting her ingenious montra of Carolina Pussies.

After about the 3rd or 4th time she aimed her phrase at me I (regretfully) lost it.

I about faced and walked back to her.  This shocked her a little as she began looking for backup.

I got close enough so that it was a personal interaction and (again regrettably) proceeded to tell her to go back home.

(Pause for effect)

OH YEAH! I forgot, it's gone.

not my proudest moment but after all these years it doesn't bother me anymore.  Fug the Saints.

glad to see other fans remember that god awful day, by far the worst officiating day I have ever seen. With one commentator saying they "needed the win". I say earn it, it the NFL...but, i digress.

frankly, it shows if an officiating crew (or NFL) has an agenda...they will throw a game. but, since it was us and not a big name team, it was all good and they got their "needed win".

Hope we kick the crap out of them tomorrow.

    • If Reich or Fitterer were still around I think the need to extend Young because of what he cost would be stronger.  And yeah Morgan was Fit's right hand when the call was made but there an equal chance that Dan will see it as a chance to move on from Fit and shake off that stink. Holding out some hope that 3 years and clear eyes will allow for an honest appraisal that Young just aint the guy
    • As far as elite/elevate talent QB’s It’s Allen Mahomes Jackson and Burrow that’s it.  Then we have tiers and those can be debated all day Dak is a good QB but I know this board would want him out of Charlotte if he was the QB here. 2 playoff wins in 10 years. Justin Herbert no playoff wins. Threw 4 interceptions in last years playoff game. 23 TD passes last year. 20 the year below and 25 the year before that. This board loves stats without context and these stats aren’t saying they’re much above complimentary  Kyler Murray isn’t good. I’m not sure how he made this list.  Caleb Williams, Trevor Lawrence both benefiting from some real good offensive coaches right now. They’re both complimentary pieces until proven otherwise  I like Jordan Love. Always have. I wanted to draft him but he isn’t a superstar.  CJ Stroud hasn’t been much better than Bryce after his rookie season. After that Bears game year 2 his numbers very similar to Bryce I will say I think Drake Maye is well on his way to becoming the next top tier QB if I had to pick one from this entire list. I’d also say Baker Mayfield is a damn good QB and I’d take him over most of those guys not in the elite category  Now if you want to debate tools and which QB’s possess tools to put them in higher tiers that’s a completely different discussion. Most QB’s on your main list all have those physical tools that will keep you thinking he’ll become the next top tier QB. They’ll sprinkle in a “wow” play or two a game. Bryce will never look that way. Young’s game at its peak will physically always look different and I think that’s where most people struggle when it comes to seeing how Young’s can be successful in the league  All QB’s need a team around them. I think the Bills are failing Josh Allen much like the Panthers did Cam. Beane and McDermott using same blueprint with Bills team. Josh Allen hasn’t had much in terms of WR’s and it’s ultimately costing them when it matters the most
