NFL.com Rosenthal says Cam is Top Shelf

Ahead of both Manning (including the good one), Flacco, Stafford, Wilson and others.  I think we on the Huddle all recognize Cam's many doubters are ill-informed, but for someone on the National stage to support Cam's abilities above those other obvious names is indeed a nice recognition!

I call BS on the list.

If it is going by this season...  then Dalton is way too low.   Guy has 9 TD,  1 Int,  66% completion and over a 120 qb rating.         Make no mistake,  Dalton is balling out this season.

That's fair.  I do wonder where Cam would be with an AJ, Antonio or Julio.

He's not going to just list the ranking based on the stat sheet.  Dalton's playing well, Luck isn't.  No GM in the league would rather have Dalton than Luck, even during their current polar extreme performances.  Cam's stats probably don't put him in the top 5 or even 10 QBs, but you can damn well bet that there aren't 5 QBs in this league that could do more than he has with what he's working with.

Close your eyes and imagine watching (i know i know) Sportscenter.

The Panthers are fresh off a victory in which Cam Newton throws for 350 yards 3 TDs 0Ints rushes for another 58 yards and a score.

Now here is the tricky part.  Julio Jones is a Panther.

Jones catches 225 yards 2 TDs.

Who does SC praise? Cam? or Julio?

Go.

    • That's certainly what we hope but c'mon... stating it as fact when he's never played a down of NFL football?
    • What?!?!?! Chark's 1,000 yard season was 4 years before he played for us and he only had 525 yards in 15 games as our #1 WR.  Dude has 3,100 yards in 7 seasons, he's the literal definition of a JAG and you think he is better than half our current WR room? T-Mac is literally already better than Chark was at his peak, which again, was years before he ever even put on a Panthers uniform, and there is a real argument to be made that XL and Coker were both better as rookies than Chark was for us in his one season here.
    • Im glad we're starting low. It's nonsensical to put us at 28 IMHO based on objective things IMHO (I think 21-24) is far more appropriate but whatever. Washington was at the bottom last year FWIW.  In 2003, Sports Illustrated said our best chance to win the division was to transfer to the ACC. In 2015, everyone wrote us off as a team that snuck into the playoffs with a losing record in 2014 and lost our best WR in TC (Kelvin Benjamin). All these videos are fodder for conversation, but this prediction has no more validity than saying the Panthers are making the SB bc we're starting the season against the Jaguars again. If Bryce plays like he did down the stretch we will end up the season just fine. This roster is much better than it has been the last 2 seasons. No one knows who any season will ultimately end up, but this team is finally being built in the right way, and the idea that this roster can't compete this year is as insane as being it was when we were gaslit in 2023 that we were a rookie QB from winning the division with that roster.
