Colin Jones in the slot...

S/T ace so I won't destroy him too bad but when he gets the double move on a slant he bites harder than a motherfuger. I'd like to see how Shaq performs in that role to be honest. We run a zone scheme so we can afford to give up speed for awareness.

And Shaq is still plenty fast...

Well hopefully Peanut will be back before too long, and we don't even have to worry about this.  But honestly, I doubt Shaq could do much better on guys like Cole Beasley and [gasp] Amendola/Edelman(?).

Anyone else noticed that we ran our base 4-3 last night about as much as any time this season?  Teams LOVE going 3/4 wide on us, forcing us to drop a LB and play a CB.  I honestly can't remember a time where we had to get out of our base 4-3 as much as this year.  But this game we were able to keep Shaq or AJ on the field a lot.

I like Colin, but he shouldn't be playing nickel. Has struggles when he gets in, from the playoff loss last year to yesterday. I'd like to see Teddy Williams get some more looks. Cb is probably the one position we don't have a lot of depth and will have to add a draft pick and a FA.

I saw this same post after the Washington game. Bottom line, Jones is a backup for a reason. Once Peanut gets back, the problem is solved. Gettle does need to eventually address this though, because Bene is playing better outside than in the nickel IMO. and Peanut is a short term solution due to age and injury.

    • There is a Grand Canyon-sized chasm between your opinion and the opinions of most former player hockey guys who do this for a living.
    • I can only imagine the **** eating grins on the committee right now. "Oh, Bama didn't deserve it? Oh, Miami didn't deserve it? Suck it, haters!" lol
    • To say that, is gaslighting, because it isn’t true. I mean, maybe one or two people do that but it isn’t the predominant behavior. Even Frank has given him credit. I think particularly the Rams game. A couple of glowing posts.   I know I have. Gotta be honest about it because if you aren’t it undermines what else you say.  But the degree of how far I go with credit, in terms of it being a projection of future performance? Not very far. Acknowledge it, but require more of it. There is a lot of bad play to offset.    I tried to remain passive while the last 9 games (post ankle injury) played out. It is just really hard when the lows won’t go away. I failed. As high as a couple of those highs were, there isn’t enough.    I know it is premature to just say I want to move on, made my decision after 6 of those games ended up pretty much really good or not good enough, but I have had enough of being patient and letting him show the reality either way.  So in my view, he Could still validate himself to a decent degree if he smokes the last three starts. But also in my view I don’t expect to see it. Maybe one more high quality start, would be my expectation. So yes he could still somehow justify having the job next year. If that happened I still wouldn’t have much faith given the last three years and all that has transpired. Again, there is a lot of bad play to offset.
