Panthers sign CB Cortland Finnegan

Good signing.  Vet, savy and can play.

to my knowledge he has never caused issues with his teams.  He basically annoys opponents with his poo.....which we have always embraced when it is one of our own.   I think he actually likely is slightly more controlled with that nonsense than Norman currently is.

I'd never heard of Finnegan until Panthers tried him out and I began learning of his history.  Man, the thought of him and J-No playing together.  Our opponents WRs are gonna be getting an earful!

Hope this works out ok.  Colin Jones at Nickel was definitely worrying.  So glad our FO is being proactive.

How long have you been following the NFL?

Finnegan has never been a locker room issue, so posters here are wrong to make him out to be some kind of cancer. Dude was Community Man of the Year in Nashville and was voted team captain multiple times. He will be a perfect fit if he has anything left.

"In 2010, Finnegan became a member of School of the Legends (SOTL), an online communityand partner of the NFLPA.[3] SOTL's headquarters are located in Nashville, TN. He also became Titans' Community Man of the Year due to his fundraising efforts and the establishment of ARK 31, a non-profit charity for children with disabilities and special needs.[4][5]"

That's from his Wikipedia page, what an asshole. If you're strictly hating on him because of his on field crap than I can't imagine how much some of you would hate Cam or Josh if they played for other teams. Cortland gets under people's skin just like Josh, hopefully he has something left in the tank!

Thanks for posting this.   I saw a documentary on him a few years back and I came away from it liking the guy.

At this point in the game I doubt Rivera or Gettleman would sign off on a guy who would be detrimental to the locker room.  People forget it was Gettleman who let Smitty walk because of reported locker room issues.  These guys know what they're doing.  In this locker room with so many strong leaders he will be fine regardless.   I'm pretty sure he's very thankful to be scooped up by a SB contender whose franchise just happens to be hours from his childhood home.

Wow.

After being an avid fan of the Redskins from 1987-1992 while living in the D.C. area, I basically didn't give a hoot about the NFL from 1992 until 2012.  1992 was when I began working overseas and also when Joe Gibbs left and the writing was on the wall re: the Redskins' decline.... From 1999 - 2010 whenever I was in the U.S. I was based in S. Florida and never grew to care about the Dolphins.  Not sure I ever watched an entire game...

But, in 2010, I moved to Charlotte.  However, I wasn't ever in town during football season until Dec. 2012 and that was my first chance to really learn about the Panthers.  Watched a couple of games and fell in love with the Panthers...  So... that explains my lack of knowledge of other teams' stars.  I pretty much went 20 years not following NFL football....

P.S. I should add that I was in the U.S. (down in FL) for the 2004 Superbowl and did watch that game and was even rooting for the Panthers... but never dreamed I'd one day become the Panthers fanatic I've now become!!
