How many of your friends/family members have become "hardcore" Panther fans recently?

My little brother is the perfect example of this.

Said Greg Olsen is the best TE in the NFL right now.  And it's not even close, and I said he's better than Gronk (even though he'll go down as the best TE ever)?

He of course says "yes" then proceeds to ask me if I'm a Patriots fan.

Also, this is the same guy that didn't even know who Luke Kuechly was in 2013, shortly after I said he just won the Defensive MVP.

Anybody else had any conversations like this recently?

My wife is a lifelong Notre Dame fan. Never had an nfl team until we started dating. Now she loves the Panthers. Her brother in law was a Bears fan, then he started watching Panther games with me..now he cares about the Panthers more than the Bears. Two more fans for the panthers!

Right before the pre-season started, I took my mom and sister (who didn't know anything about football) to the fan fest and they've been interested in the Panthers since.  But it wasn't until about the 3rd-4th week of the regular season that they started sitting down to watch an entire game, and now they're hardcore fans who understand almost everything about football. Especially my sister, it's amazing how much of a fan she's become, and a football nerd, after not knowing what a first down was back in September.   I did a great job.

The bandwagon has shown how large it is on my facebook feed. People I had no idea even liked football all cheering for the panthers.

Not even mad.

Yeah, it's just difficult to talk football with them.  Besides the whole "Panthers look good, don't they?"

OK, you gotta hear this.  I'm still laughing.

In another (now deleted) thread I had just detailed some of the hassle I've been facing as I try, from Africa, to buy tickets to the Panthers game against Tampa on Jan 3.

The purchase triggered the fraud alert on my credit card.  So I had to call to authorize it.

Explaining my purchase (vendor & amount), I mentioned also that it's tickets to the Panthers game - a Christmas present for my brother (and me!).  The guy on the phone starts telling me "My colleague and I were just debating this morning whether Cam should get MVP.  I think it would be a crime if anyone else gets it.  Cam deserves it hands down."

I said, "so you're a Panthers' fan?"  He said, "No, I'm in Tampa, I root for the Bucs, but this year I'm rooting for Cam as MVP."

Gotta love it.  I told him Jameis is looking pretty good and I hope they finish the season well - just not when they play us!

    • I have said if you out even an average QB into the offense we are averaging 25+ points a game. But that will never happen with Bryce under center.
    • The defense is 28 out of 32 in salary cap allocation for 2025. We have a ton of resources tied up in the offense including the highest paid OL in the league multiple 1st round WR's and multiple recent draft picks across the offense at TE and RB and we have two 1000 yard backs. Bryce and company couldn't get past Tyler Shough and his crew in 2 games. That's all there is to it. You can spin it and put the entire onus on the defense to your heart's desire it doesn't change the fact that this is an OFFENSIVE team now. If you want to argue that we should revert back to a defensive identity as we have been in the past which has brought us success then I will agree with you on that. But as it stands the onus is on the offense because that is where we have invested through the nose. Dave Canales and Bryce Young need to do a hell of a lot better than they have against the rebuilding Saints who without us should only have 2 wins this season.
    • Bryce is not trending up. He is the same QB he has always been. Bottom of the league in most categories.  If Canales thinks he can build a contender with Bryce then he is a bigger idiot then I thought.  Offense next year will have the same issues and be just as inconsistent as it was this year.  We have seen Bryce’a ceiling and it is 175 yards a game and that is not a QB you keep around as your starter. That is barely a backup.
