What I love most about this season.. It doesn't feel "magical."

I've been around a while, and I do agree with PU for once.  2003 was magical.  2001 left the franchise so low that honestly had the Panthers not turned it around I would be surprised if the team wasn't mentioned prominently as a candidate for relocation through the 00's- and us old enough to remember would agree.  2003 was so unexpected it will never IMO be replicated.  Having a career backup come in and win so many close games and be so close to winning it all is still remarkable.  Cam has a pedigree so far beyond Delhomme (whom I will always remember fondly) it isn't fair to compare the two.

2003 will never be replicated, and that's ok.  Maybe for me it will always have a magical connotation b/c it was right before my father died, and he was a huge Panthers fan.  It seems like an unreal time in my early 20's before I was inevitably hardened by life- I don't ever want to forget, and I don't want to compare it to any other season.

That being said, this year does feel more legit in terms of this is w/o a doubt the best regular season team we've ever had w/o question.  I agree with an article I read from Troy Aikman- what the Panthers accomplish in the post-season will define this team.  Let's enjoy the ride, and I hope it ends in Santa Clara with a Super Bowl win.

I agree. And in PU's defense (which I'm sure is popular) what I think he is trying to say is that the season is not magical because our boys are playing at a level in which we all "knew" they were/are capable. Therefore it's not surprising, so it erases the "magical" feel.

Whats impresive though is that we are undefeated, and I think that is something that I even have not allowed to sink in.

That is damn right badass!!

So yes, I agree; not magical = it's just about damn time!!!

Infact, I find it offensive when people say we are having a magical season.

LOL. You find it offensive that folks are calling this a "Magical" season. C'mon man.

Now if we were 10-2, I may just agree with you. But...we are 12-0. That is rarified air. If folks want to call that "Magical", I have no problem with it.

Typical newb comment.  I was a fan in 1998 when the team imploded to start 0-7, cut Kerry Collins, and looked as bleak as ever.  I was a fan in 2001 when the Panthers went 1-15, and couldn't buy a win despite being in a bunch of close games.  I was a fan in 2006 when we were supposed to be Superbowl contenders but underachieved all year.  I was a fan in 2010 when Jimmy fuging Clausen was the starting QB and the Panthers easily had their worst season getting blown out every damn week.  I was a fan in 2012 when the Panthers were supposed to take the next step and be playoff contenders behind Cam Newton, but instead started 3-9 before rattling off 4 straight wins at the end of the year.  Being a Panthers fan has been hard for a long time. Disappointment is the name of the game.

So god damn it if this isn't a magical season, WTF is?

This is a magical season so far.  It wont be magical until we win it all.  And no Cinderella isnt magic, it is a fairy tale and we are not a fairy tale we are real.  But magical to me when everything comes together, when the offense which is supposed to be the worst in the league in third in points scored, when a defense makes big saves and pulls stuff out of their hat like the Norman interception in week 3 and Davis at our goal line against Green Bay.  It is magical because we won without Luke, Cam is an MVP candidate and Shula is considered an offensive guru so that his name is being tossed around as a head coach candidate.  Lets be real here.  Who thought that would happen??  Pretty magical to me and the best is hopefully yet to come.  Obviously my definition and the OPs about magical are very different.  If you have been around since the beginning this is clearly uncharted ground for the Panthers and yeah it feels magical to me.

I feel like this is going to be the norm for us going forward...not the undefeated part but we will be SB threats for a while...

What should scare other fans/teams is that we can easily get better at numerous positions (LT, CB depth, SS, WR, DE, Special Teams)

We'll get Benji back next year plus the extra experience of Funchess and possibly Byrd or possibly Hill(lol reaching here(but seriously he's the same age as Benji))

Looks good going forward.

    • It dawned on me this morning.... that we have a fan base that can't make up it's mind whether they want to be winners or lovers.  Y'all say ya want to be winners, but ya don't act like it.  Beening a fan since before the first game every played by the Panther, I know this fan base lobes us being then underdog.  "We play better as the underdog." Which in of itself is a loser mentality.  No competitor ever wants to constantly be considered the underdog.  Just ask Steve Smith.  This season, this team is literally the ultimate underdog.  Let by a QB that fits the underdog role PERFECTLY.   This fan base should be going hog wild about being an underdog in EVERY GAME we're scheduled to play this season.  Yet, they have already labeled this seasonnas another lost season.  Which it.may end up being, but who the fug really wants that? Seriously???  I personally, want to see our team thrive. I want them to take it to the NFL. I want to see these guys, Bryce included, to step up and show the NFL that not only do they belong,  but they're bringing the fight to the other teams.   Enough of this lover mentality.    Enough with crying over not having the QB we all wish we had (whomever that may be).
    • Are yall really getting pissy over 9 pounds? 😆
    • Measuring last season MUST take into account that Young had no pocket to step up and pass.  If once is going to talk about footwork of a quarterback, one must first address the oline. Does said QB have a decent line. No.  Does said QB have clean pockets to step up into when passing. Again, No.  When a QB is running for his life. his footwork, which is 💯 tied to accuracy,  is going to crumble. Just ask P. Manning.  Cam, ....any QB to EVER PLAY THE GAME! Bruce's football career is based on his accuracy.   It's one of his elite traits.   So, let's, I don't know, see how he is behind a competent oline, with competent receivers.  This fan base is so incredibly stubborn with this kid. They refuse to be unbiased at all.
