Actually I think any team can talk to any of our coaches during our bye week in the playoffs.

I think they can only talk to coaches for head coaching positions during the bye week.  Everything else is considered a lateral move (the NFL considers going from position coach to coordinator lateral for some reason).  http://www.windycitygridiron.com/2010/1/14/1249310/rules-pertaining-to-hiring-nfl

Just my own speculation but I don't think the Eagles would have fired Chip, let alone before the season is over, if they didn't already have a candidate or two in the works.  McDermott almost makes too much sense, but I'd bet money he's their next head coach.

Side note, we all think Steve Wilks will just walk into the DC position when McDermott goes, but Wilks might get some looks as a HC as well.  Panthers coaching staff is ripe to be picked clean after a magical season.  They'd better cap it off with a Superbowl victory because there will be some growing pains next year.

Did they not watch the last two games?  I'm not that worried.  I think Rivera has his hand in the defense enough to where this wouldn't be huge.

And I doubt Proehl is going anywhere.  Outside of this message board no one else thinks he's that amazing.

...Lets see...stay in beautiful carolina or go to a shthole like philly...

To be fair, "they" didn't screw him, Andy Reid did.  Reid needed a scapegoat to hang onto his job.  McD was his fall guy.  McD is partially to blame though.  His D's performance made him a believable fall guy.

The thing was that not only was he following a legend but he didnt have the personnel to run his scheme.  In particular his linebackers were either hurt or not very good and his scheme needs great linebackers and safeties. He was given 2 years which means one year to actually recruit his guys and try and fix the issue. While Reid did the firing he knows that Lurie is not considered a very good owner and Philadelphia is a tough place to coach with high expectations. Kelly had 2-10 game win seasons and one bad season and he is gone.  Imagine if Richardson had dumped Rivera after 2 losing seasons.  I think coaches are keenly aware of how other franchises treat their hirings and firings.

It would suck but I think it's likely McD could be gone.  Good for him though if he lands an HC gig..I remember wanting him as our HC when we found Rivera and it was icing on the cake getting both haha.  Philly could use an NFL coordinator-coach hire particularly on the defensive side of things.

Wilks slides into DC if it happens though who is more than capable.

Who should get the job? Many names will be circulated until the position is filled, with fans, media members and Lurie changing their minds plenty of times until they make a hire.

One name that should be high on the list to start? Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Sean McDermott.

McDermott is a strong candidate for a number of reasons.

From what I understand, they didn't actually promote him. They just adjusted his job description.

He was given a new title and a raise last year when they gave Kelly the grocery basket. He is still pretty young but is now getting an increase in power to match the job title he got last year.

Plus, over the past few years we have established ourselves as s top 5 organization, that alone should help us bring in higher quality coaches then before.

It's been such a pleasure in recent weeks to read articles in the national media applauding Carolina not only for the play on the field, but for the quality and character of the organization as a whole.  Winning has really helped some former critics to look more closely and find a lot to like in the culture of the team and organization as a whole.  It's great to see what we Panthers fans have been so excited about the past few years finally getting broader notice and R-E-S-P-E-C-T.  (Feel like breaking out some Aretha about now..!)
