Some honest discussion: Cam's Post-season stats and expectations?

Cam isn't known to have the best stats in the playoffs. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/N/NewtCa00/gamelog/post/

He has 5 Touchdowns to 5 Interceptions,

He has 0 rushing Touchdowns.

Part of these stats are against great defenses and the most harshest of competition by virtue of being the playoffs. Not many QB's have great Post-season stats outside of 2 or 3 a year.

So what I wonder, what are you guys hoping to see from Cam in the Post-season? What kind of plays do you think he does best with against the stiffer competition? We have seen masterful games from him this season and even since 2013 against great defenses in this league.

Cam will surely have to play better with our leaky secondary than his previous playoff efforts if we expect to win against the likes of Seattle, Arizona, and even possibly Minnesota if they catch fire.

Honestly i think it will be much like the regular season has been.  What i mean is every game a different player has come up with a big play to sway things in our favor. Not that cam hasnt been a big part of that..  I Hope it doesn't come down to cam.  If it does he has proven to be ice cold in crunch time so hopefully it carries over.

I expect this to be his best playoff performance. He's improved so much from last year to this year, reading defenses. The style CAR played this year, running heavy is great for the playoffs.

Hopefully we'll be balanced enough with a rested 28 that Cam won't need to bear a heavy burden.

25 to 28 attempts is ideal with continued focus on slants like we saw against Tampa.  That would limit mistakes considerably on Cam's end.  Go down field on a line read audible to give Cam the control he needs.

Honestly, his stat line even minus the rushing TDs from Tampa would win most playoff games.

Cam hadn't had a regular season like this one before either, so not sure of your point. Also, when you say 'Cam has to play better', are you saying better than in post season's past? His play has been pretty damn good this year.

Can't make any dumb throws like the TB game, any playoff team will make you pay.

That tipped ball in TB wasn't dumb.

People like to bring it up. But it was barely tipped, which is why it didn't change the trajectory much.

The defender had very little chance of catching that ball. That was the same type of ball Cam threw to Olsen over JPP in the giants game (and that barely cleared JPP's outstretched club).

And outside of that throw I just described, what "dumb THROWS" did Cam make; since you said "throws"?

The guy was 21-26 with about 3-4 drops. And he threw the other ball away to the sidelines.

Ya... I've literally given up. The man could be 26-26 and people would b*tch about ball placement if they had to (I've seen it done here before).

He's throwing to a bunch of guys (WR's) that wouldn't even see the field on most teams and still managed to go 21-26!

It's truly remarkable what Cam has been able to do this year. After you factor in what he has as far as weapons on the outsides go its mind blowing.

    • If Canales comes back and Bryce doesn’t I would probably prefer to bring in 3 guys he likes from around the league or maybe outside a top ten pick and work through them, give that a shot. Because if we win a few more games we won’t be in the running for the top rated QB prospects anyway.
    • You mean tepper but yeah I agree about rhule   Baker is a top 3 potential qb that is play for mvp and he is doing it with a slew of injuries
    • There’s too many to reply to so I’ll just say a couple more things then I’m out: 1. It hasn’t been both ways and that’s the point. People saying stuff like “too bad Bryce Young didn’t make that tackle” is a direct result of the ridiculousness of blaming Bryce Young for literally everything. I remember one game day thread a poster unironically blamed Bryce Young for JT Sanders flipping onto his own neck and injuring himself. That post was pied. I literally just read a post blaming Bryce Young for XL dropping a ball on a would-be game winning drive last year. This past week, when Tmac bounced a ball off his hands for an interception, Bryce Young was immediately blamed in the game day thread. Alternatively, people who try to give credit to Bryce Young are immediately told that to credit Bryce Young is taking away credit from Rico Dowdle, OL, whoever, and that they shouldn’t be talking positively about Bryce Young because he doesn’t deserve any credit. 2. Yes, there have always been bad posters, the difference is that back then they were largely derided. Bryce Young’s rookie season, when many of us were simply pointing at the train wreck of the whole team and saying it was maybe a little tough to evaluate Bryce Young when he had no time to throw and slow receivers, and just saying basic stuff like “Bryce Young can physically throw the ball further than 20 yards.” There was an attempt made to limit all those opinions to a single thread, by a mod. This is like saying lunatics running the asylum is normal because there have always been lunatics in the asylum. The difference is before they were patients, now they’re in charge. 3. I know for a fact I am labeled as one of the “Bryce Stans” by many of the usual suspects, but the fact of the matter is they have no idea what my position is on Bryce Young because any attempts at nuanced discussion in the past have been so completely pointless due to never being able to get past the hyperbole. How can we have a serious conversation if you insist he is physically incapable of throwing a football 20 yards? Or if you insist that he somehow duped the Panthers into drafting him just by drinking water? Or if you insist that he should be able to succeed behind one of the worst offensive lines I’ve ever seen (rookie year, not now). And I’m not the only one, there are many who have left the huddle because of it and started a discord server, I’m just too lazy for another app.
