Hobbled Allen vs. "Fresh" Delaire?

And I realize that Kony will get the start but watching Delaire not active week after week has been bothering me.

I'm confident that if active you would see him with some healthy number of plays in the rotation.  This is the time of year when his speed off the edge could really make a difference.

I'd love for Delaire to live up to your expectations. However... I've got to side with the coach that got the team to 16-1 when he says that Delaire doesn't get a uniform yet. Maybe this weekend he will, maybe this weekend he won't. If he does, I hope he plays well enough for it to never be a question again. If he doesn't suit up, I can only guess that what the coaching staff has seen doesn't put him above some other players filling needed roles.

Rivera's got this.

The whole "either or" debate isnt really the issue people are making it out to be.  The concern is not having Delaire active so he could contribute.  Against the Cardinals we will be rotating guys in to keep them fresh.  Rushing the passer every down is exhausting for DEs. So the question will be who is doing the best job on Sunday doing what we need them to do.  Whoever that is will get the majority of the snaps.  Problem solved......

I think you are being a little hasty at dismissing the possibility of a brain transplant.

I think we should rest Allen this week and activate Delaire. if we are fortunate enough to advance to the superbowl then I think 3 weeks rest should be enough for him, and if we happen to also play the broncos we will most certainly need him in there for at least the majority of run plays.

I respect Allen and understand completely why he is pushing to play.  But is it for the good of the team?

Even if he is healthy we need pressure on Palmer and Delaire has shown he can do that in limited PT.

Maybe i've overlooked him, but besides the Tampa Bay game, I don't think Delaire has shown that he can do that.  If Allen can be anywhere close to normal, and the coaches feel like he has a pretty good chance of finishing the game, then we should play him.  Thats a big "if" though.

Also brought Wes Horton back up a couple of weeks ago.

he has only been activated in a handful of games.  And he did not look great against NO, which I "think" was the last time he was active.  So, tough to judge.

I think the decision whether or not to activate 4 RB's will be as key to him getting a chance as Allen's health.

I have enough confidence in our strong coaching staff to know they will put the players that give us the best chance to win out there.  If they go with Allen, I am sure they know more than any of us if its the right move or not.

Also gotta love the guts and passion J Allen is showing coming back out after breaking the bone in his leg.

True defintion of Keep Pounding

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
