A lot of little clues are hinting at Sam Mills III pounding the drum Sunday. My question to the younger fans...

I cried like a baby when the world lost Sam Mills.

He died on my brother's birthday. I cried as well (only other time I can recall crying was when my grandfather died). Very mixed feelings even now.

SMIII would be great.

I remember hearing the news of Sam's diagnosis. I also remember Mark Fields diagnosis. 2003 was all about 51 & 58.Sseeing the 51 58 tee shirts through the white jerseys and knowing that the guys were carrying them into battle every week..  I know Mark has faded into obscurity since he turned out to be less than a nice guy but that season it was Sam and Mark that lifted the team.

SMIII would be a near perfect symmetry.

To the OP's question, I don't know if it would reach all of the fans, especially the younger ones.  No slight or disrespect to any of our fans, but Sam Mills is known, but for 73,000+, I wonder if this would be the best player to do it.

That being said, I think if the B of A team that is in charge of production were to supplement it with a fiery and impactful montage on the jumbo screens, that would help.  Maybe a 5 minute background with highlights and how impactful Sam was to this team.  Basically, a way to get everyone...players, fans, etc. pumped up big time as we approach kickoff.  Maybe recruit LilSmitty to help give the people what they want.  Get the whole stadium pumped up with the backbone of what 'Keep Pounding' truly is, which will then lead to the "Keep" ..... "Pounding" chant going from side to side. Then, Sam Mills III comes out and bangs the hell out of the drum for the man!

At this point, players, fans and everyone in a 1 mile radius of Mint Street will be so energized, you could power a small third-world village.

I hope if the Panthers choose Sam to do it, that they go all out.  This is the first ever NFC Championship game in Charlotte. The place is going to be so energetic.... let's do right by Sam Mills.

That being said, if they don't choose to go the Mills route, the Ron angle is a new one, and intriguing.  I'm still for Coach Beam, Jerry or KB13 as well.

F it, let's let all of 5 of them beat the drum like a pinata until it explodes, and a flock of Cardinals are released from inside.

As a fairly new fan (but not "younger") I would be thrilled to have Sam Mills 3rd pound the drum.  I confess I wouldn't have known/remembered Mills jersey # initially,, so if I'd been at the stadium, I might have been among those slow to react to Proehl's reveal last week...

Which is why he had to leave the Saints. They aren't allowed to have anything that good.

I'll admit it, I laughed.

I'd just like to point out that CAM NEWTON has yet to pound said drum. I can't think of Anyone else getting the crowd to cheer louder.

I understand the significance of it all, and SM3 isn't ever going to be the wrong choice, but what's odd is that shroud of secrecy behind who's actually pounding the drum.

At this point, it's usually already been announced. The fact that it hasn't, leads me to believe that it will be Cam himself

    • Personally I think he's a nightmare to cover I think linebackers generally aren't fast enough to keep up with him in coverage and cornerbacks don't have the strength to tackle him one-on-one in physically bring them down which would normally lead to a broken tackle or a nasty stiff arm or just bully ball play sure you could find a receiver with comparable speed like Cooper but he's faster than Cooper sure you can find a wide receiver that is the same size but he's probably More powerful than them and a better blocker.  The size speed athleticism package that he is in is completely unique it's easier to say I'd rather have just a big blocker because we've never seen this type of profile before I'm a risk taker I think you would be God blessed if this was there at 19 I think if you can get a guy that's a tight end who immediately becomes the fastest guy on your offense and at the same time that third wide receiver that can stretch and burn defenses over the top that's the perfect what the Panthers need type weapon.
    • I think you're under selling Sadiq. They are two different players in terms of how they win. Loveland is 2 inches taller maybe 5-6 pounds heavier. Comparing his speed to sadiq.. well your comparing a 4.7 guy to a 4.3 guy I'm seeing a guy that can take a bubble screen from the tight end position and turn it into a house call. I'm not saying the guy is a certified home run pick but I don't think there's really a president's for a comparison for this kind of athlete. It's easy to say this doesn't look like Warren or Loveland because we haven't seen guys that fit this profile The closest you might be able to get is Vernon Davis.  He's not as sure far as those guys were but at 19 I think almost everybody is going to have some warts and he's a lottery ticket of could be top 10 in the draft player or could fail I am more of a risk taker I think he fits the athletic profile that could be a homerun, like I said he's almost 40 lb bigger than Cooper and like 4-5 in taller than Cooper so and he's faster. So whatever you think Cooper gives you I think he does that and more. If you want to go with one of the office alignment I can understand that as well but for value as a receiving threat I don't think there's a bigger value at number 19.
    • I’ve haven’t seen anything that says we have interest in Njoku?
