According to CBS, Thomas Davis' contract was voided due to a contract stipulation

UPDATE: Disregard... Apparently CBS is asleep at the wheel.

I've seen no other mention of it anywhere else, so. . .

The stipulation was placed in the two-year deal that Davis signed last June, which served to spread out his signing bonus and dampen the salary cap hit. After playing valiantly through a broken right forearm in the Super Bowl, the soon-to-be 33-year-old will have to decide whether the risk of another serious injury is worth it. However, he cobbled together the second-most tackles on the Panthers in 2015 -- or 105, to be exact -- so the production is still in line with his history when healthy.

Is this real? It's says that it was reported by Charlotte Observer, but I see nothing on their page or on Jones/Person's Twitter.

I honestly wouldn't mind it, for three reasons

1.  TD isn't playing for any other team in his career besides the Panthers, he'll retire before playing for anyone else.

2.  Gettleman would do anything necessary to make sure we had the cap room needed to sign him.

3.  This kinda negates point 2, but I have a feeling if TD was a FA, he would go to the team and ask for the vet minimum.

At this point he just wants that ring and is the ULTIMATE team player, I could absolutely see him as the guy who says use the money elsewhere to make the team as great as possible, the money means nothing to him at this point.
