Irrational & Realistic FA Wishlists

No doubt, bringing in a T and a G that can push and compete with our current starters is a must.

Same to be said for our D-Line or any position. Penciling players in as starters is something losers do.

Imagine if KB, Star, Norwell, and Stewart were #2's and Remmers, Philly, Dickson, and Klein weren't good enough to make the cut! Sounds like improvement to me

Definitely an OT but I think we're going to bring back Amini. He played very well when healthy.

Marvin Jones

Eric Weddle

maybe Mario Williams if the price is right....and a o lineman if a decent one presents himself.

Marvin Jones isn't happening.

Eric Weddle - at the right term/price - Rivera knows Weddle and what he is capable of.

Mario Williams - I think he'll want too much and still have the demand so I don't see it happening, but I believe he would be a good fit opposite Kony.

and if no one else has mentioned it, Hakeem Nicks is available and has some local ties.

I think we need a starting DE and a starting corner in FA.. We may draft a DE, but at 30, it will take a little time to grown into a force. This class has some corner depth.

Here is my irrational scenario:

DE: Vernon, CB: Sean Smith

I keep seeing how DG won't spend or that's not his way to spend big on a FA- I just don't know what everyone is basing that on. He's never had the opportunity to spend on FA.. He has also never been the GM of a team this close to being the best team in the NFL... They guy is great at finding over performing bargains for sure.. I don't think its a lock that success with low/mid level guys means he won't go fishing for a big catch.

I know I wouldn't play poker with the guy

You mean the same thing that almost every single NFL player plays for?

He wouldn't expected to be a world beater here, just a stop gap for a couple years while we find another DE.  Those just just don't grow on trees.

If that's what you think I meant, then ya shouldn't have responded.

At least Hardy didn't sexually assaulted someone like Peyton.

Peyton's transgressions have nothing to do with what Hardy did (allegedly), and why a dynamic pass rusher in his prime had to settle for a pay as you go deal from the circus that is the Dallas Cowboys. Again, alarming.

Pie for the sarcasm though. I think it is, at least.

Ii am more concerned with which players are a good fit for THIS team whoms talent also constitute their pay

heres a couple oL that i believe fit that aforementioned mold

the player at the very top of my wish list is second team All-Pro RT Mitchell Schwartz.i can't think of a single tackle this past season whom shutdown Von Miller besides Schwartz.he's also, finished the past four seasons with a positive PFF grade. if Schwartz leaves Cleveland, then the Panthers outta roll out the red carpet along with their checkbook

Jeffrey Linkenbach might not even make the 53 man roster but well worth making a vet minimum offer based on his prototype tackle size and versitality alone.standing at 6'6 and weighing 300 pounds this hog mollie has started in the NFL

5 games at LT

7 games at LG

3 games at RG

16 games at RT

low risk that could become a good insurance investment in case of an injury.plus he has experience which is also a big plus especially at the tackle position in todays NFL

I'd love to play poker with him. Yeah I'd probably lose some cash but to sit around smoking cigars, drinking and gambling with the G himself? This should be the prize for a Huddle contest. Get on it @Jeremy Igo.

    • They can get film of all the games? Every team? Wow! Who knew… Our games with them are big examples of why they are in  the CB market so hard.   It is the study they do getting ready for the games.  Preparing to play against is a little different than just analyzing film in scout mode. Deeper dive. Then you are analyzing post game too.  This goes to why players often change teams but stay in the division. The opponents know each other on a higher level.  Plus if you lost to us, you used to get fired. Now you have to trade your first round pick. Moving up on the world.
    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
