The Panthers twitter just tweeted about Derrick Henry..Are they hinting they may go after Henry in the draft..God I hope so..

We would be ridiculous with a 6'5 QB and a 6'3 RB and a 6'5 WR... Defenses wouldn't stand a chance against us in matching up..

Unless he can't see a hole worth poo like other Alabama tailbacks. In college, he can just run through people. In the NFL, he will be taken down much easier and it's not like we need another huge guy considering we have Tolbert and Stewart. We need a back like Ameer Abdullah who can take it to the house when they get in the open field.

Who they would have drafted given the opportunity.

Maybe, but that wasn't really the point. I just don't think who the media team decides to profile means anything regarding who the Panthers may be targeting.

To be fair, Henry at least makes sense as far as projected range, unlike Gurley.

It takes actual wide receivers time to learn how to catch Cam's passes, how long would it take a QB convert? If Miller can be had in the 4th, I think you pull the trigger.

He showed a tremendous amount of progress this season.  He also seems to be great at catching with his hands instead of his body.  He's already transitioned a good amount.  Randle El could do it, Cobb was dynamic, I think he's in a similar mold athletically.  Different types but I see something in him.  Heck, I can even see him in shotgun/read option with Cam.

I think he will be a more durable Percy Harvin. I think Miller is a much better athlete than Randle and probably better than Cobb based on what I saw from him this past season.

We aren't talking about athleticism alone, I am talking about his hands, and his eyes. How quickly could his muscle memory get to see ball, catch ball. It took Funchess half of the season and he was a pass catcher his entire career. Cotchery has always been known for his hands and it took him all of last season to finally get used to Cam's throws.

In a nutshell, do we have the space to commit that high of a pick to a developmental prospect at that position?

    • I am high, but that’s besides the point! The blue line is not good right now. I’ve said it all year. I don’t think this group meshes well. Slaven has been just OK Niki up and down Miller up and down ghost and Walker have been your most consistent guys. Maybe it comes together more towards the playoffs
    • I was expecting to see more cap room moves by now, which may be to suggest that we are not going to be that aggressive.  I have mixed emotions about that (because I think we have 3 needs on D and 3 needs on O--starters).  If you look to the draft for 3 starters, that is ambitious.  We need 6
    • Yeah we shouldn’t be competing with teams, bidding wise, to sign a WR. There will be one for us and our budget.  I keep saying, how many balls will there be to go around anyway? One thing good I will say for this offense is the ball has been spread around at times. Seems like I remember seeing a large number of guys have caught passes in a game. Or been targeted at least. 3 RBs 4 or 5 WRs 2-3 TEs type of stat lines. 10-11 guys.  Not every week but that happens.    As far as WR in general, we need the smaller agile and quicker component to compliment what is there. After that it should be about depth, having good backups for the starters so we can run things consistently still, if a guy is out for a week or two. That is especially important in game where you have to finish the game with who you made active.
