Big Cat has caught his share of heat (some warranted some not) over the years...but seeing guys like CJ, Smitty, and now Cam have such a close relationship with him is awesome.

Love this move, we dodged a 11 million cap hit by releasing Johnson. Then he comes back at only 3 million. Hell of a move by Gettleman.

We were gunna pay him 15 million if we had done nothing. We cut him..  We owe 4 million in dead money aka we save 11m in cap space. CJ decides to come back at 3m.    So in total,  we will pay him 7m this season as opposed to 15m

Seems like there is strong bond between the Panthers players and CJ has proven he is a big part of that, so has JR.

His cap hit was $15 million, we cut him and his $11 million salary vanished, but his $4 million pro-rated bonuses stayed on our cap, the "dead money". We will be paying him only $3 million, but that $4 million "dead money" doesn't vanish now that he's back, so he counts as $7 million on our cap, despite only making $3 million this year. In essence, you're right
