There is no reason any CAR fans should be insulted by this (in case any are off the thread), he was never going to retire as a Panther.  He represented our team well and was a great addition to the team for a great season, but there was no reason for him to pay homage to our team by retiring as a Panther when he wasnt here more than one season.

I thought he dropped the mic when he announced his retirement and literally rode off into the sunset.  I guess when you are Jared Allen you can pick up a mic once you've dropped it and re-announce your retirement.

You mean on this board where people fly into a rage about what someone might have said if Cam Newton hypothetically did something someone else did?

I never like to underestimate what people can get pissed about (regardless of whether there's any logic to it).

Love him as a player, seems like a genuine person. Good for him. Wouldn't be surprised to see him on the sidelines at some point as a coach or even on TV.

Technically, he already did. We put him on the reserve/retired list which means he had filed his retirement papers with league. He is now unretiring and re-retiring with the Vikings.

Congrats to Jared for being able to retire from the team where he had his best days as a player.  I'm just glad we got him for at least part of a season.  Although he may have had some problems in KC, he became a high character guy and he got to go out with a winning season with a class team instead of with the John Fox led Chicago Bores.
