Trent Dilfer is set to leave ESPN; bruh, what's up with the Total Sports Network?

Skip Bayless and Mike Tirico are not the only broadcasters leaving ESPN’s Bristol Campus.

NFL TV sources say Trent Dilfer, one of ESPN’s most engaging NFL analysts and member of the “Monday Countdown” crew, is likely headed out the door. Spies say money is the issue.

And according to published reports, Brad Nessler, one of ESPN’s top college football and basketball play-by-play voices, is headed to CBS to work NFL games.

The speculation is Nessler will eventually succeed Verne Lundquist on CBS’ SEC football package.

ESPN blew a lot of money on the rights to NBA, NFL and College games with the idea broadcast fees would go up again. well broadcast fees have gone down and ESPN is getting there asses handed to them. they are pretty much willing to let anyone walk thats not mike and mike, berman or SVP.

Spent too much to get games, people are cutting the cord, they let actual talent like Bill Simmons go, they've been TMZ for years now, etc.

And to all that I say, good. I always want ESPN to exist, but cut the dumb content out, focus on sports and great stories like the 30 for 30 series and Grantland (which, was Simmons' doing...RIP Grantland), and pay actual talent instead of the Stephen A's and Skip Bayless's of the world for years on years of shitty shows like First Take. I understand they have to feed the mouth-breathing population of the world, but they're shtick has been tired for years.

I changed my opinion of Dilfer when he admitted he was wrong about Cam, watching the Seattle game.

"He hits Olsen three times in tight coverage. He throws a corner route early. He reads blitz and hits the crossing route. I was blown away. I was like, boy was I wrong. I was glad. I don’t mind being wrong. It’s big-time."

Had some other positive Panther comments as well.

    • I'd hold on to Walker - we have no OT depth at all. Freeling is a block of clay - all the tools are there and he appears to have a great attitude. He needs serious work on his technique to realise his potential though.
    • From my watch last night: They weren't trading out of 19 unless it was a daft offer once Freeling got there. They were clearly antsy to get Hunter - and Minnesota actually called to offer the trade down. They weren't trading out of the third round pick once Brazzell fell to it (and Canales would have been happy with him in the second round). They traded back a lot on Day 3 - even if Morgan 'Babe Ruth'd' it with Lee, Hecht and Wheatley; they clearly weren't the only guys they would have taken at those picks. I'm curious to know which player caused the reaction at the start of day 2 (Dan Morgan): "of course they'd pick him"
    • Watching this confirms that this staff and front office is super high on Monroe Freeling. I wouldn't be surprised if he's gotta a real chance to win the starting LT job in camp. If he does, we can look to flip Rasheed Walker to a contender desperate for tackle help.   As for Ickey I still really like him and wanna extend him but based on how the staff was talking about Freeling it might be time for ickey to start taking some practice sets at guard if he wants to stay here as we are gonna have to have figure out a solution for the contracts of Lewis and Hunt.  My preferred scenario for the Oline in 2027 is Freeling-Ickey-Hech-Lewis-Moton.
