N C State coach to Russell Wilson: "Son, you'll never play in the NFL."

Recommended Posts

"The summer before my senior year of college, I’m playing minor-league baseball. I called my football coach at NC State and said, ‘Hey coach, I’d like to come back for my senior year.’ He told me I wasn’t coming back. He said, ‘Listen son, you’re never going to play in the National Football League. You’re too small. There’s no chance. You’ve got no shot. Give it up.’ Of course, I’m on this side of the phone saying, ‘So you’re telling me I’m not coming back to NC State? I won’t see the field?’ He said, ‘No son, you won’t see the field.’ Now this was everything I had worked for. And now it was completely gone. If I wanted to follow my dream I had to leave NC State. I had no idea if I would get a second chance somewhere else.

Let's not forget that Russell decided to walk on senior day as a junior, he refused to give the team a yes or no whether he would return and if he were batting .350 instead of .220 he probably stays with baseball all together.

But please, Russell, keep making poo up.

Yeah that sounds made up. Like the cool youth pastor telling the story about how he used to be a drug addict (he tried pot once) but Jesus delivered him and now he can teach all the youth and touch your daughter's thigh.

People who are not real leaders will make up inspirational poo. Wilson is a con man basically.

I'm still waiting for Russell's biggest secrets to be released. I know he's hiding something, I know there's something really fugged up that will eventually be discovered.

Russell Wilson = Alex Rodriguez

Both very talented professional athletes. No denying it.  Both say what they think people want to hear and appear to be putting on an act, almost manchurian like.

Wilson's public persona seems very contrived.

I sense that it's just a matter of time before the curtain gets pulled back to expose some skeletons.

tarheel checking in Russell is making poo up also State had Glennon waiting in the wings (he gave them two great years)- what were they supposed to do? Be held hostage while Russell made up his mind?

NC State did nothing wrong, and I'd be willing to bet a bunch of money that TOB never told Wilson any of this shit

Wilson is all about his legacy, always has been. Just go listen to the audio from the playoff game- he kept saying "greatest comeback ever" or some poo. He thinks he's in a Disney movie.

Hard to believe NC State would be that stupid. I'm sure they would've love ed to have him at QB for another season.

With that said, I have two fraternity brothers who actually grew up with Russell Wilson and neither one has a single negative  thing to say about the guy.

Not a fan of Russell--I think he is a narcissist--but I will add that the coach had to make a commitment to Glennon who had more eligibility left.  Not that Russell was not a nice player, but Glennon was on campus working with the program and Wilson was trying to find the quickest path to fame.  After all, if Wilson himself thought he had a shot as  an NFL QB,would he be leaving for the minor leagues before his senior year?  Don't get mad a the coach for not believing in you when you didn't first.

Another question:  Why is Wilson saying this now?  For attention. To get everyone to say how wrong the coach was and praise him.  A couple college psychology classes is all it takes to read Wilson.  The whole story is much different than his version.

    • I agree with OP notion, QBs always get credited for game winning drives even if they do minimal. Just last night Caleb got credited for a GE drive when they basically ran the ball the whole drive and only had to go 36 yards.   And there are drives where Bryce could of had a game winning drive if not for a Legette drop vs Philly or a Chubba fumble vs Tampa
    • You are actually, genuinely comparing Bryce to Jimmy fuging Pickles? Jimmy accounted for 3 touchdowns in his 10 starts in 2010. In Bryce’s 10 games post benching last year, he accounted for 20 touchdowns. Jimmy threw three touchdowns in 2010. Three. Bryce has thrown 10 touchdowns through 6 games. He is currently on track to throw for 3300 yards, 28 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. Wtf are we even talking about anymore. I mean seriously
    • Tepper? The guy that directs the coaches towards goals that he set for them… that guy. He is the one.    I don’t think he ever was going to be expelled from class, they had him come in for garbage time maybe the 2nd week he was benched.  I will say this. People said he wasn’t under pressure the last part of the year when he did better, but he was fighting for his career and that’s pressure. And he saved his career too. I don’t reject him for those kinds of things I reject him for the physical things. I have always brought it down to he has slim margin for error and has to be perfect. People with the tool set have a little fatter margin for error. Why make it harder on yourself? Got nothing to do with hating him.  I am no statistician but game that margin thing out a lot and see how that works.
