Several sources seem to be suggesting that Panthers have been negotiating with Kurt Coleman re: an extension to his contract.

Coleman may be next in line to receive a contract extension from the Carolina Panthers.

Coleman’s representatives and the Panthers have been in preliminary contract discussions since June and continue to “keep an open dialogue” moving forward, a league source said Tuesday.

The second-year Panther is in his final season of a two-year, $2.8 million base contract that pays Coleman a yearly average of $1.4 million with added yearly incentives.

Coleman tallied 53 tackles, nine passes defended and a team-high seven interceptions – tied for second in the National Football League – in 15 games at free safety last season for Carolina.

So Huddle, what do you think?  How much would you pay him if you were Gettleman?

Kurt Coleman is not going to be nearly as effective without a top CB to reduce the field he has to cover. Mistake to pay him any more than he is getting paid now. Should keep him at 1 and 2 year contracts.

He was burned quite a bit last season.

Man everyone gets burned.

Kurt played awsome he deserves an extension.

Its not easy covering roman harpers backside

"Quite a bit?" Nah.

He was solid by any measure.

55 solo tackles, 35 Assists, 1 sack, and 7 INTs. We haven't had that kind of play at safety in a while. The INTs in particular are game changing. Three mil per year is a small price to pay for that production. Maybe even four depending upon garauntees and contract structure. A modest raise is in order, especially considering that we probably aren't going to do any better regarding value and experience in such an inexperienced secondary.

I'll put it this way: if we can get Coleman for 4 mil per year, for three or four years, it will be a good contract. Less than that is great!

All safeties get burned sometimes. Earl Thomas got burned last year a few times. Should the Seahawks cut him? GTFO of here.

    • Any idea what happened to him at LSU? im reading that he was considered a 1st round pick in 2023, had an off 2024 season with only 4 sacks but was also on a horrible FSU team then went to LSU where he was supposed to be on an aggressive defense that should have given him a lot of sacks but he only ended up with one….   was he injured? Did the top SEC competition expose him? What happened? Cause this guy was considered a top prospect .
    • Sometimes its fun to read the threads/posts.  The panthers could literally hire a groundskeeper and we'd have a thread "improving the field for no other reason to prop up Bryce Young".  Apparently no move is ever done to actually make the team better.  All a conspiracy to just focus on Bryce Young. Or suddenly daydreaming and reminiscing about Sam Darnold when he was hated more than Bryce Young.  Its really fun to do a message board search about Darnold during that time period.   Or thinking there is just a tree that grows QB, and you can just easily go up and pluck one.
    • Yeah okay. We as an organization have been more patient with him than many. And there has been a small parade of guys drafted since he was, also to bad teams, that have passed him. Some have lapped him. As a fan I am out of patience but he gets this year it is out of my hands always has been. I just hope the bar is higher than it has been for him.    FWIW, XL dropped two passes last year. He did do some other bad stuff, just saying.
