Can u stash Byrd on PS this year and he will be the Ginn replacement next year?

It may all depend on the pre-season games.  If he runs much with the 1's, and does what he has at camp, PS may not be a safe place for him.

Two big guys (KB, Funchess)

One medium guy (Philly)

Two fast guys (Ginn, Byrd)

I like that, I like that a lot.

On an empty formation with Olsen, it's pick your poison, but I would take any of these guys on a 1v1 situation any day.

A bold prediction, we will:

Keep 4 TE to increase and keep size consistent

Keep 5 WR with KB, DF, TGJr, Philly, da Byrd

Ted, Philly, Byrd bring speed

KB and DF bring size

TE, the locks are Olsen and Mr Sandman

So who would be the other two? 1 could be used as an emergency FB and the other could be an emergency WR.

Thoughts?

I believe everyone is overlooking special teams, not returning ability but blocking and tackling. Its a huge plus if you're 4\5\6 WR can be a 4 phase STer. Believe it or not bersian was in on special teams a few times, but I still don't believe he's the one to make the team. Norwood is a bit who fits the ST role as a back end WR. That's one reason a thought hill would struggle, but it's also his knee issues.

Byrd doesn't seem to fit the blocking or tackling part of STs...... Now if Ginn goes down, Byrd would be the first I hope to replace. We'll see if they carry 5 or 6, I've been getting on 6 while most have 5 as the number.

Does s.hill have any practice squad availability???

I'm pretty sure half the Huddle has forgotten Norwood is on the roster. It's easy to get hyped up about Byrd in camp situations. He's fast and can take the top off a defense during drills. Camp drills with minimal pressure up front really play to the advantage of a player like Byrd.

However, don't sleep on the fact that we traded next year's 7th round pick to get Norwood and Getts loves his damn draft picks. That means he has a lot of value with Norwood. I doubt he would just trade that pick for him to just ride the inactive list all of last season and then just cut him at the end of camp in a couple of weeks. Plus Norwood is a bigger body than guys like Byrd and Getts also loves the "Big players allow you to compete" mantra.

Not say Norwood is a lock, but I feel like there are a lot of Variables that play into his favor. Plus I believe he can take Cotchery's spot as that possession only receiver no problem.

If Byrd makes the team it means that we kept 6 wideouts. I think Hill and Bersin are on the outside looking in.

I get your point, and really have no dog in the fight at this stage, but I can't help but point out that 4.28 speed is considerably faster than 4.48. People have seemed to have forgotten Norwood for sure (at least until he started making plays), but people also seem to have forgotten how fast Byrd really is. There's no one on our roster that's faster.

You should learn to believe it.  One of the Huddle's (and I'm sure every other fan forum in existence) favorite offseason activities is to hype up players who haven't done jack poo in the NFL. I'm not saying they NEVER pan out the way we hope, but more often than not, they don't end up making much of an impact at all.

I'm only alarmed because people of importance on this site have talked him up. People observing practices.

Find it crazy that a few drops (which reportedly everyone has had) and a tweak to the knee make him garbage again, particularly since he started camp so well.

Going from having potential to be our best receiver down the line, to being trash within three days? I just find it fickle.
