Josh Norman on Panthers Front Office - "Dictatorship"

Maybe it's the Smitty homer in me. But I think he could still be on this squad today if GMan handled it better. Especially with what Smith meant to the team and fan base. He played almost a decade through up and down Panther teams. He was as much a teammate as a he could be.

But I do believe he's been sour ever since.

I disagree.  Smith had to be gone for the team to become Cam's.  You can't just talk to a player who has been THE man for years and make that dynamic change.  I 100% agree that Smith would do anything he could to put the team first, but the way we needed him to do so was impossible.  Even if he tried, he wouldn't have been able to become "second-in-command" in that locker room.  As long as he was here, he would be the emotional leader of the team.  Gettleman correctly realized that one of the things that needed to be done to unlock Cam's full potential was to enable him to fill that role that Steve already occupied.

If Steve were 3 years younger I think we could very well have been looking to bring him back in the future.  But it just didn't work out that way.  I'm glad he found a second home in Baltimore though.  They needed his fire.

these guys get real salty when they have to leave the Carolinas and found out there is no Cook-Out in whatever bodunk town they sign on with.

Understandable. I got pretty upset, myself, when I found out there wasn't a cook out here.

I remember Josh doing quite a bit of press as a Panther, especially after the OBJ thing and leading up to the Super Bowl. Also, didn't he show up on a sports show as a host this summer and the Redskins were dismayed over it (I may not have all of the facts on that correct, it's a dim memory)?

SMH, every player knows it is a business and when they leave on bad terms they say  it was a business decision. Well be a pro and move on; to keep throwing shade months and years later isnt professional. You made your decision not signing the tag, enjoy your money in washington.

DLO falls into this category too. Smitty got it out of his system after he played us,  then returned to being a pro. DLO and JNO need to follow suit.

Btw these are all players I loved, but when your gone, you are gone, get over it.

Also, it would be interesting to see these sponsorship deals he didn't even know about...back that up, or you're probably full of sh!t.

Probably Harrah's Cherokee Hotel and Casino.

They wanted him to ride Delta through the casino in full rhinestone cowboy gear.

Josh blew a lot of hot air. The organization has spoke out many times and has allowed Cam to Cam, allowed Steve to Steve but they wanted to restrain Josh? Who believes this? They stopped you from interviews and sponsorships? Really Josh? Nobody was checking for JNo before mid-season. The opportunities weren't there and I HIGHLY doubt the organization hindered him from playing N his style at any moment. I don't like this move from him. He subliminally took shots at his former teammates, one he still hangs out with from time to time in Atlanta and the other who hasn't said a word about him but also dissing the organization. Pulling a Deangelo Williams on us.

The NFL restricts the types of endorsements a player can make (few products are barred), but I've never heard of companies having to ask permission of a player's team before a contact can be made. I think Norman has gone off the deep end.

I'm positive there are some businesses on the NFL/Team no-go list, like casinos, strip-clubs, adult "entertainment" stores, etc.

Yeah but there aren't that many and most are obvious. And it's an agent's job to do the screening.

Players Association policy-

Applicants whose missions and values that do not align with those of the NFLPA;

Police‐regulated businesses, such as, but not limited to, adult businesses (activities restricted to adults); tobacco firms or marketers; groups advocating hate or violence; firms or groups advocating illegal or inappropriate use of drugs or other illegal activity; businesses or entities promoting adult materials or services or with sexual associations such as massage parlors, escort services or establishments featuring, for show or sale, X-rated or pornographic movies or materials; false, misleading or deceptive endorsements/underwriters; businesses or entities whose materials, services or products are harmful to children;

Parties to a lawsuit adverse to the NFLPA;

Actually its not, you are comparing to young players with 5 years tops experience to vets well in there 30s and have already been paid in the league. Olsen and TD are not gonna dominate endorsements because they are on or close to the back end of their careers not to mention as good as they are not considered nationally the best a respective positions (TD is just now getting spot light) . They are not fresh young faces with low mileage and they also are not gonna demand huge contracts because they have already made significant money. Why would they? It is all about chasing a ring at this point in their careers.

Norman and Short are the comparison for the post i was making rather than TD and Olsen.

And as others have pointed out, these don't go through the team.

Norman is full of s--t on that point.
