Positives From Last Night's Game

This'll be short but, there were some good things from last night's game:

1. CAP showed he can be a starting RB in the NFL. He wasn't great on every carry, but he was solid and had a few powerful, dominant runs. He might make JStew expendable.

2. Greg Olsen is still every bit as good as he ever was. One of the best complete package TEs to ever play the game.

3. Andrew Norwell may be one of the best undrafted free agents we've ever picked up and developed.

4. We actually got lucky and improved in the punter position this year.

5. Changes in the secondary seemed to have helped at least somewhat.

6. We won't be faced with a Romo vs Prescott decision when Cam comes back and we've still got a good backup.

7. Looks like we'll be saving big bucks when it comes to KK Short's contract negotiations.

8. And I'm running out of stuff here. Anyone else?

Good post OP. To echo some of your thoughts:

CAP had some nice moments, but he's not strong enough to covert those 3rd and short situations. He got stuffed on a few of those last night. I don't mind him though. Last night was arguably the best individual game of his career thus far.

Olsen is a beast plain and simple. Most people in the NFL may take Gronk, but give me Greg all day.

I thought the secondary was decent last night. Sure they couldn't get off the field at the end, but really, aside from the one Evans touchdown that Worley gave up, we didn't get burned. Sanchez was solid I thought for a debut game. Worley definitely is streaky, but I do think he will develop into a good corner for us in the next year or so.

KK is wishing he signed that 15 Million per year extension in August. He's still very important to this team though so we absolutely will work to retain him, but we should end up saving money.

    • It's baffling there are still people who log in here and want to blame everything on the defense. We are 10th in offensive spending and 28th in defensive spending according to Spotrac. At this point either you work for the Tepper’s or you're related to Young.
    • okay I buried the lead with this at the end but it needs to be up front, then we have the rebuttal I started out with.    A designated Hail Mary QB, and designated QB sneaker… that is some unheard of stuff. I would be willing to bet a large sum (relatively) that only one player in the history of the league has required those accommodations. Cool. I think my point is he did not ruin Luck, Luck vouched for him by hiring him at Stanford. And he did not negatively impact Young. The NFL negatively impacted him because he doesn’t have an NFL game. It was just… Bryce, meet reality. This is the NFL not Alabama. He is still trying to get his game up to snuff and we are in year three. Also the resources used on him after he got to the NFL? We had a bottom 5 worst defense in history basically (17 game stats vs the old 16 game stats make it look worse), because he needed so much help. .
    • Just asked chatgpt... in order for us to obtain ar least 9 wins each of the last 3 seasons the QB performance we needed would be Pat Mahomes or Josh Allen. Nothing less.
