Gil Brandt has 6 guys he would resign and 6 guys he would let walk and 6 guys he would resign.  He has listed Kawann Short as a player he would like walk due to his inconsistency this year compared to last year.

I can honestly say I am on the fence with this one.  Star has out performed KK this year so far.  Star looks more like the player wanting to be extended then KK.  However, the year that KK had last year was an amazing season for a Defensive tackle to is it fair to compare this year with last year?  The only way I don't resign KK is that he recommends or demands ridiculous amount of money.

Thoughts?

KK is super replaceable. Norman was not. Gettleman's brain is backwards, so he'll probably pay KK.

Idk Bradberry has replaced him pretty well as a rookie andwill probably be better than Norman and not cry for the money Norman did or be the distraction. But yeah let's continue to bring up Norman. PS if we gave Norman what he wanted we wouldn't even be discussing if we should sign KK or not. Because we couldn't afford him or anything else hardly

Probably be better than Norman? That's just a wild guess. I'd much rather have Norman than KK. I think Norman would have come down a bit on the contract, but moron Gettleman tried to really low ball him. Need a new GM.

You can't even come close to making the conclusion that Bradberry will be better than Norman

Signing KK would have been possible if we signed Norman. Those who say we couldn't forget how contracts are structured. Cap hit is what mattered and Norman's cap hit could have been 10 million or less in 2016. And remember the KK salary increase would be paid in 2017 not 2016. He is already under contract and paid for in 2016. Extensions add on to existing contracts they don't replace them. The difference is KK gets paid the signing bonus when he signs In 2016 but it gets spread out over the life of the contract for cap hit purposes.

I'd say tag him or see if he'll take a one year deal to make up for this bad contract year and then see if he can perform at a high level for another year or two then make a decision based on that. If he does walk though I wouldn't be that upset. I like KK but he isn't worth what he was asking to be paid before this season. He's not even worth what DG seemed willing to pay before the year until he shows more consistency. Butler will turn out to be a great pick going forward. Star will get a deal here and be here a long time.

if anything, this makes gman look smart. he didn't overpay in a rush to sign KK long-term. He drafted a replacement in case we have to let KK walk. Now KK's performance doesn't warrant him demanding top-dollar. If he still wants that top-dollar and someone else is willing to pay it, we are still in good shape.

And we get a comp pick

Sorry we were a man down before Norman left so we haven't replaced him yet...still at least a man down...this is the issue that perpetuates itself since Gamble retired... gettlemagic...

Too many Huddle GMs want to "win now."

NFL success is probability (and statistics to a lesser degree) math.  Put yourself in the best position to battle year after year, because it takes everything to go your way in order to win these games.  You can't put the team in the best position to win over the long run if you're being short sighted about old, loud CBs and lazy-eyed DTs.

GMan is working on securing a healthy, long-lasting future.  The hurt has come because Shula got the jump on the rest of the NFL last year and Rivera has been terrible at righting the ship in rough waters this year.

    • Would you just fuging quit trying to make us like him? That is his job, not yours.  Thank you.
    • Rookie season being key to uour argument. I didn't at all mislead about the talent Cam had to work with. Kalil was a great center. Olsen was a great TE. Our WRs were probably the worst in the league. Cam still won MVP, we went 15-1, and we went to the SB. Your attempt to bring up Cam to defend Bryce is desperate and clownish. Bryce has more talent to work with and has done WAY less.
    • Not exactly sure that is an honest assesment of the talent he had to work with that year. Olsen had over 1100 yards that season making the PB, Stewart had close to 1100 total yards also going to the PB. He had Kalil at C who went to the PB, Trai Turner at RG who also went to the PB, and Michael Oher at LT who played well enough that the Panthers offered him a new contract the following year. I wouldn't call that a trash OL. He also played with a defense that was stacked with talent as well.   "The thing we are doing better this time around is actually surrounding our #1 overall draft pick QB with talent vs. asking him to completely carry the offense. I just hope that effort is leading us to realize that the guy isn't even good enough to get carried." Please.... Did you not read the list of names Newton had to work with his rookie season. I guess you missed it so I will post it again for you... Steve Smith (PB), Greg Olsen (PB), Brandon LaFell, Ted Ginn JR, Deangelo Williams (PB), Jonathan Stewart (PB), Jordan Grossn (PB), Ryan Kalil (PB) on the offensive side and then he had Luke Kuechly (PB), Jon Beason (PB), Thomas Davis (PB), Star Lotulelei, Kawann Short ( PB ),Charles Johnson, Greg Hardy (PB ), Mike Mitchell, Josh Norman (PB)  For comparison, here is who Young had his first year.  Chuba Hubbard, DJ Chark, Jonathan Mingo, Adam Thielen, Hayden Hurst, Ikem Ekwonu, Chandler Zavala, Bradley Bozeman, Nash Jensen and Taylor Morton. Not a single PB player on the list and most of them aren't even playing any longer. Additionally, his HC was fired during the season and the defense was as bad as the offense.  You might not like the comparison but saying Newton had to completely carry the offense isn't exactly fair to the 4 pro bowlers on offense who played with him that year.
