What is the chances of getting him if we let Shula go? With the Bills benching Tyrod for now EJ, I think Lynn would be a fool to stay with that disaster franchise. Who would then be Cam QB coach

My guess is he'll be Buffalo's first head coaching interview, but I don't know if he'll get the job.

They may try to retain him as OC either way.

Might be best to just stay away from anything that has been in Buffalo. That team has been in the cellar so long that they have seen the Browns emerge, return, re-emerge and return again since their last playoff appearance.

Two, three years in quarantine before they lose the bad Buffalo mojo.

Rex was actually a very good D.C. before getting the head gig in New York. If he doesn't go into television then he certainly could get another job being a coordinator.

If McDermott were to get a head coaching job then I personally wouldn't be too upset if Rivera would contact him about his willingness to join the staff (if he would consider switch styles and with the understanding that he keeps his mouth shut).

You'd have to get Rob on that one, Rex has too much balls for Rivera.

Marcell Dareus has come out as saying that Ryan's defense was "too complicated".

Not to defend Ryan, but from what I've read about Dareus I get the feeling that any defense which requires him to remember more than three or four things might be "too complicated" for him.

Yeah some people forget that he did lead the JETS into two AFC Championships, with Mark 'buttfumble' Sanchez.  The guy can coach given the right circumstance.  Honestly I don't think Buffalo gave him enough time.

I think that he is the kind of coach that needs to get his type of players for his type of system in place to have success---at least on the defensive side of the ball. Offensively, I don't know that he fully knows what he's doing, but I think that he prefers an old school approach. I think that one big thing that people don't necessarily give enough weight to when judging him is that he has never really had a good QB. He went into Buffalo with sub par guys basically picked by the GM. I wonder how Rex would do with a legit talent at QB.

I've read that he said that Buffalo was his last gig (HC or DC). I'd be surprised if it is though. His knowledge and creativity on defense, as well as his personality would be missed.

Much like one of our coaches, their last name and daddy is the only reason they are even in the league. Not coaching ability

Rex Ryan is a good defensive coordinator.    Not everyone is a HC.  Dude is a legit defensive mind.
