"Need of a consistent playmaker beside (Olsen, KB, & J-Stew) to give Cam an outlet during delayed blitz  or 3rd down whether its a RB (draft) or WR (Devin).  "

       - Hint towards ATL stratgey of using the RBs by pounding the defense early with power & zone and then stretching the defense out by motioning the back wide for a route

      - Fozzy use as reciever

1. Eager to evolve: At his end-of-season press conference Monday, head coach Ron Rivera was asked to expand on his desire to see the offense evolve in 2017 – something he discussed at length with Panthers.com last week.

Rivera spoke about finding different ways to use quarterback Cam Newtonicon-article-link.gif’s athleticism in the passing game while limiting his exposure to punishment as a ball carrier.

Newton has previously said running the ball is his “edge,” but Rivera doesn’t believe it will be a hard sell when it comes time to implement changes.

“No, not at all,” Rivera said. “I’ve talked with him and I’ve talked with some of the players on the team about the things we need to do going forward, and the one thing about Cam is Cam is always all-in.”

"Few pieces away with core players returning from injury"

- Pro Style offense ,hire Norv Turner as assistant coach?

-Address the OT/TE & draft  RB in the 1st round

2. Vote of confidence for Shula: The offensive coordinator, of course, plays a big part in any plans for the offense.

When asked if Mike Shula is the right guy to help orchestrate this evolution, Rivera simply replied: “Yes.”

Shula, whose tenure in Carolina began as quarterbacks coach in 2011, has been the offensive coordinator for the Panthers since 2013. Last year, Carolina scored the most points in the NFL (31.3 per game). This year, the Panthers ranked 15th in scoring (23.1).

"We need to take advantage of players skills and adjust the defensive play calling"

- Use Bradberry like Aqib Talib with more cover 2 man

- Promote Wilks to DC

3. Corners must build on strong start: One of the major storylines heading into the season was the question mark at cornerback. Carolina invested a second- and third-round pick in James Bradberryicon-article-link.gif and Daryl Worleyicon-article-link.gif, and they combined to start 24 games. Rivera believes they are both headed in the right direction and hopes the best is yet to come.

“I want to make sure they understand how important it is to come back in and compete,” Rivera said. “They both did a great job; they both finished strong and did a lot of good things. But it’s an everyday process. They have to come out and work hard, compete and get themselves ready to go for the next season. They can’t fall back and rest on their laurels, which we have learned this year.”

4. Draft position should help address “glaring” needs: Rivera was asked about the Panthers holding the No. 8 overall pick in the 2017 draft, and he offered his quick assessment of his team’s draft outlook.

“We have, I believe, just a few holes to fill,” Rivera said. “We’ll get a lot of guys back that were part of the reason why we had some holes that were out there. We just have a few of them that need to be filled, and you get your center (Ryan Kalilicon-article-link.gif) back, get your middle linebacker (Luke Kuechlyicon-article-link.gif) and hopefully we get our left tackle (Michael Ohericon-article-link.gif) back.

“But we have an opportunity to fill probably one or two needs that are glaring. Other than that, I feel pretty good about us.”

Keep Shula and expect 7-9 next season at best. This franchise doesn't know how to move on until coaches completely implode.

Also how about some WRs that can get some separation and catch consistently?

OC sucks but we need receivers that can catch and get separation.....

got it.

    • There is a Grand Canyon-sized chasm between your opinion and the opinions of most former player hockey guys who do this for a living.
    • I can only imagine the **** eating grins on the committee right now. "Oh, Bama didn't deserve it? Oh, Miami didn't deserve it? Suck it, haters!" lol
    • To say that, is gaslighting, because it isn’t true. I mean, maybe one or two people do that but it isn’t the predominant behavior. Even Frank has given him credit. I think particularly the Rams game. A couple of glowing posts.   I know I have. Gotta be honest about it because if you aren’t it undermines what else you say.  But the degree of how far I go with credit, in terms of it being a projection of future performance? Not very far. Acknowledge it, but require more of it. There is a lot of bad play to offset.    I tried to remain passive while the last 9 games (post ankle injury) played out. It is just really hard when the lows won’t go away. I failed. As high as a couple of those highs were, there isn’t enough.    I know it is premature to just say I want to move on, made my decision after 6 of those games ended up pretty much really good or not good enough, but I have had enough of being patient and letting him show the reality either way.  So in my view, he Could still validate himself to a decent degree if he smokes the last three starts. But also in my view I don’t expect to see it. Maybe one more high quality start, would be my expectation. So yes he could still somehow justify having the job next year. If that happened I still wouldn’t have much faith given the last three years and all that has transpired. Again, there is a lot of bad play to offset.
