Shula is the biggest problem. I watch all these other teams offenses and most look very different than ours. Ours is 2 runs up the gut and a 40 yard bomb then punt. It's one of the most vanilla offenses in the NFL. Without Cams athletic ability,  Shula and probably Ron would both be coaching elsewhere.

League has figured out how to rattle Cam's cage.  Falcons gave the blueprint to the Broncos before the Super Bowl and the league has been relentlessly pounding him ever since.  Coaching staff continues to run long developing plays leaving Cam on an island by himself.

Some NFL teams are more than the sum of their parts thanks to excellent coaching... Panthers aren't one of them.

And I really don't get that.

Prior to his coming here, there was nobody better than Rivera when it came to taking down the league's top passers. Heck, if he didn't own Peyton outright, he at least had a lease with an option to buy.

His Charger defenses weren't necessarily the most talented, but they knew what they needed to do to win. I said to myself watching some of their games that here was a guy who knew exactly how to find your weakness and exploit it, big time.

Since Rivera took over the Panthers, there have been times when I've felt like that was true (more so on defense than offense) but it hasn't been consistent.

What happened to that guy who could scheme to take away all the best quarterbacks?
