Peppers could be coming back

Let's take a poll and see how many franchises "hate" their second best player of all time. Was he more important than Mills to the franchise? Definitely not. Was he a better player? Not even a question.

The best players in franchise history are 1.Steve Smith and 2. Julius Peppers. Even though it might kill some to admit it, it is absolutely true.

Peppers can still be an absolute freak. Consistently? No. But a contributor? Damn right.

I'd be all for it. Not to mention...it's probably for a year. Bring him home on a contract that will come off the books in a year (not really hurting the salary cap), he can contribute and maybe even take over one game next year, and of course the nostalgia boner it could give. I mean, he's one of the Top 3 players to ever put on a Panther uniform, and will be recognized as such when he retires.  Might as well start that celebration and put bandaids on feelings for some people.

He should have come home three years ago... He never wanted the pressure of being the hometown hero, I could care less if he finishes his career here or not. I still remember to this day Gross signing a long term deal quickly so that we could tag Peppers... Gross is a true Panther, Peppers is an afterthought in my mind

This isn't being done as some celebratory "yay Pep is back as a Panther" thing. The dude will legitimately help our DE rotation and depth. That's truly all that should matter.

I am just shocked that you have this opinion, completely shocked. He was never a vocal leader who would speak to the media. He was more of a lead by example type player. It is amazing how he was overwhelmingly praised for his leadership abilities in both Chicago and Green Bay.

Now can you imagine if he actually did want the pressure of being a hometown hero like you so eloquently put it? He might just have become a player who finished top 5 all time in sacks and a first ballot hall of famer.

Most owners, or let me clarify, intelligent owners would realize this and not rock the boat and run him out of town. Most owners would like to keep their first ballot HOF players happy and in one uniform for their entire careers. But again, unfortunately us as Panthers fans are not lucky enough to have most owners. We get the pleasure of an owner who refuses to speak to the media and oversee a franchise who has never once put back to back winning seasons together. Just foolish to blame Peppers on this one.

    • Don't have to be miss cleo. His weakness are length, athleticism, creating his own shot, defense, finishing at the rim,  Strengths - shooting and IQ.   Likely won't work as non athletic shooters don't typically work.

    • I live in Indiana and took a trip that weekend to watch my two friend's teams play (Chiefs and Vikings) IN Minnesota when they were playing at a college field, I think TCF? Anyways, our plan was to watch the game (noon game) then do some shopping at the Mall of America, I wasn't planning on watching the Panthers play Seattle since I was out sight seeing and walking around after the noon game had ended. By the time we were walking back into the Mall the Panthers were down by 2 scores in the 4th or going into the 4th and we were all thirsty from walking around for 2.5 hours after the Vikings game so we decided to postpone shopping until after we ate. We found this nice little sports bar inside the mall that had the game on. Man, I'm so glad we skipped shopping because that was probably the most excited I've been in some time for a win. Beating Seattle in 2015 felt like the "monkey off the back" sort of feeling and I knew we had finally arrived as a team. The entire bar erupted when Cam hit Olsen for that walk off TD. Literally one of the greatest moments of my life. My friend wasn't so happy though lol, by the time the Panthers game ended ALL of the stores inside the mall had closed and he wasn't able to get any souvenirs. It was his first time watching a Vikings game live and making a trip like that so he was legit upset lol. I on the other hand couldn't have been happier.
