Casserly says Carolina takes...

Ewwwwwww

I still listen to casserly. I cannot understand why when a human makes a mistake, in profession that many mistakes happen, they're immediately tarred and feathered. Is it really that amazing that drafting young guys and giving them millions for the first time in history, things go bad? There's like a billion billion variables. Casserly also drafted Mario over bush, when 99.9999898789% of everyone thought it was wrong.

In that scenario you would have to think Solomon Thomas or move down.  I don't see this happening.  Fornette could definitely go earlier than 8 but Cook and Tim Williams in the top 10.  Naw.

Solomon Thomas is the same as taking Kony Ealy at #8. He gets most of his sacks lined up inside. He has no bend on the edge

Disagree, he not a JPP type but he has good edge pass rush.  I'm not a huge fan of his but I don't love Barrett either.  I can just see the Panthers liking Thomas.  Great character, motor and talent and upside to be really good.

I don't doubt he's a good player and you are right about his effort and personality. However if you watch his games he's always lined up with a OLB on his outside.  Because if this he most often matches up with the guard and beats them with first step quickness and closes with straight line speed. I don't think he can play on a 4-3 front because the OT will protect inside out because Thomas had no bend in his rush. OT will be able to ride him around the pocket. Now he would fit perfectly in Houston on the opposite side of Watt or the way the Steelers use Cam Heyward.

Cook is college player #5 on Kipers Big Board. I've seen him anywhere from 4-7 on most BigBoards I've seen. If his rank is the same on the Panthers board he will be the pick unless a top player drops.

Give a guy a chance and then you can judge him in the moment of now. The scouts can see past a couple youthful indiscretions. I don't see what the baby momma hate is all about either. That's not my lifestyle choice but wouldn't you want a guy to become able to feed said kids? Tom Brady hit it and quit it.

Anything happens to Stew Panthers are in big trouble. Everybody knows we need a RB. It's a problem Dave has to solve and betting on a third or fourth rounder to get the job done may not be a luxury he can afford at this point.

According to videos on teh huddle, Cook is proficient at running both gap and zone. Running or catching. Cam with a dynamic RB? Yes please

I'm on the RB in the first bandwagon so I'm glad Fournette or Cook may be there but there's the possibility that both may be gone and a DE may drop.

Kiper:

5. * Dalvin Cook, RB, Florida State

Cook (5-11, 213) is a home run hitter who can turn small creases into massive gains. He finished the season with 100-yard rushing performances in nine of his last 10 games, including 145 rushing yards and 62 receiving yards in the Orange Bowl win over Michigan. He averaged 6.1 yards per carry this season -- after averaging 7.4 in 2015 -- and had 33 receptions for 488 yards. With good hands and the ability to find and pick up blitzes, he's versatile. He had a whopping 40 total touchdowns in the past two seasons.

Thomas seems like a very safe pick with a high floor.  Everyone gets caught up in sack numbers but the ability to play the run is going to be factored in more then some think.

Also you can't go wrong with positional value with a DE.

If the draft plays out like his recent mock, we should take Zack Cunningham, Derek Barnett, Corey Davis, Marlon Humphrey, Teez Tabor, Ryan Ramczyk, Charles Harris, Solomon Thomas, or Jabril Peppers... In that order.

We shouldn't take Cook in the 7th round if he's there. He just isn't going to be that good for very long in the NFL, and we need good players that will be good for 10 years.

Your chances of finding someone who is going to be good for 10 years in the 7th round is very slim. I hope that was hyperbole about not taking Cook even in the 7th.

I meant that, if I don't think he's even worthy of a 7th round pick, I don't think there's any chance/way we take him at #8 when there are better players on the board that will be successful longer in the NFL.
