Ladies and gentlemen, the Cleveland Browns

Browns considering Mitch Trubisky with #1 pick

Not to slam Trubisky, but is there really a good argument for him going #1 overall?

Watched him at UNC and thought he has the potential to be a franchise QB. Not saying he is a lock to be but I believe he will be in the right situation. Not sure the Browns are that situation lol. He is from around Cleveland as well. Would suck for Cleveland if he goes to another team and is very successful and they miss out on not only a franchise QB AGAIN but a guy from their area. The problem with UNC was not their offense it was their defense. Injuries did hurt the offense as well, however, like when Mack Hollins went down. Hollins was a legit deep threat and tall at that.

Cleveland had #1 and #12, in-between 3 QBs could get drafted. They should take the best player on their board, then have deals in place to move up form 12 to land their favorite QB. Panthers at #8, we've done business last year.....

Fyi panthers are going crazy about 4 out of 98, Cleveland has 4 out of 65 in this deep draft.

If he's a franchise QB, or even just a good QB, it's not a reach for a team desperate for someone decent under center like the Browns are. They've got to be praying they can pick a good one, then have a coach that can do something with him.

Even so, they are a couple of years away from relevance. But stars on offense win games, particularly QBs, and a passable defense can be put together on the fly and filled in later. Cam first, the next year Luke, for example.

Trubisky over someone like Myles Garrett though?

You'd have to have a pretty impressive argument to talk me into that.

As a UNC alum, I honestly thought Trubisky was unimpressive.  He made a lot of boneheaded plays and to me, Williams had more command over the offense in his time as a starter than Trubisky did in his.

Shocking that a four year starter had more command over the offense than a first year starter, right?

Trubisky's accuracy is phenomenal.

I hope the Browns pass on him simply because I'm curious to see how he'll do in the NFL and Cleveland is an NFL graveyard and a dumpster fire of an organization.

    • One thing I didn’t consider is how thin this draft is at quarterback. That’s going to drive up the market for backups and borderline starters like Willis, Jones, and Jameis Winston. Because of that, we’ll most likely be priced out of the market for this tier of backup.
    • We've already beat the #1 seed twice, why not one more? (Packers and Rams were both #1 seed at the time we played)
    • My determination has come down to this. Based on recent QB history, has Bryce's improvement warranted 50m per season? Lamar is the only original team QB to play on his 5th year. The others took major deals at the end of the 3rd, before or just after the option was signed. Chances are, we're getting asked for the same.  I haven't rooted for Bryce to fail. I've rooted for him to succeed so big that them signing that extension would give me no worries about our future at QB at all. We haven't seen that level of play consistently that this year. We haven't seen it in the past 6 games.  We're about to be at a threshold with Bryce and I worry about what this front office will do. We have a history of bad decision making and Morgan has been part of that group making those decisions. I don't want Carolina in the same boat Arizona and Miami are right now. It has nothing to with being right. It has to do with wanting to win for more than a single season. We've never had back to back winning seasons. Faith in their abilities is not warranted at this point.
