Hope we learn from the Oher deal, one yr stop gap @ SS , DE,

Still need WR,RB,TE and another OT...

Fournette a glam pick but I think S. Thomas or Adams better for long run...

My wants in later Rds...Tankersley,Shaheen,Logan

I think Solomon Thomas is the pick at #8 if he's there - over Adams, Fournette, and everyone else we like on this board.  Gettleman wants to rush the passer, Thomas is a rare athelete, and our DEs are OLD.  I also wouldn't be shocked if OJ Howard is taken over Adams and/or Fournette if Thomas is gone.

WR is the biggest need on the team in my opinion.  I think we end up drafting two with one of them coming early.  We have zero speed and zero reliable separation - that will get Cam killed.

After that, we desperately need to add depth at OT, CB, RB, and S.

Prepare for a needs-based draft, I don't think we are going to have much of a choice.

QB- Cam,Anderson, Webb

HB- Stewart,Fozzy, Cap,

FB- Daryl Young, Devon Johnson

WR- Benjain, Funchess, Johnson,Shepard, Bersin, Byrd, Garrett

LT- Kalil, Oher??

LG- Norwell, Amini

C- Kalil, Larsen, Gradkowski

RG- Turner, Yankey

RT- Williams, 6 guys I have never heard of

TE- Olsen, Dickson

FB- Daryl Young, Devon Johnson

R DE- Addison, Peppers, Delaire

L DE Johnson, Horton, Larry Webster

DT- Short,Butler

DT- Star Crume

OLB- Davis, Jeremy Cash, Jacobs

MLB- Luke, Mayo

OLB- Shaq, Jared Norris

CB1- Bradberry, Lou Young

CB2- Worley, 2 no names.

Nickel- Munnerlyn, Zanchez,

FS- Coleman, Boston, Colin Jones

SS- Adams, Marlowe

Leaves our needs as follows:

Depth at minimum for both tackle spot's. Upgrade a RT would be ideal.

Possibly RG depth but I think Larsen and Gradkowski could fill in if needed

WR- Need a player capable of being a starter. Can't fully trust Funchess yet, plus one injury to him or Benjamin and we are in bad shape.

TE, Wouldn't hurt to upgrade Dickson if possible but seeming less likely.

FB- More competition if nothing else.

DT- Run stuffer to back up Star

CB- Need some insurance behind Bradberry and Worley

DE- Not a huge need but Peppers only here for 1 year, quite possible the same for CJ.

SS- Need to get younger. Another Gman band aid like Peppers but hey its better than the answer is on your roster bullshit.

RB- Hoping for Fournette. I always thought it would make Stewart more expendable but with all these 1 year deal's and Vets we've signed looks like we are gearing for a run and Artis-Payne may be the more likely one to get the axe if we draft a decent back

Looks like we can go multiple ways with 1st round pick now. HB,DE, S, CB, WR all in play here.

Draft picks. 8,40,64,98,115,152,192,233

we got a few too many 3rd or 4th contract guys this FA and got really old really quick.

Disagree on DE. Depth and long term starters at DE are critical in the next 2 drafts and next FA. We have 1.5 young pass rush specialist and vets in the downside of their careers to get us thru 2017. Quite honestly I'm on the King Solomon Thomas express if Fournette and the safeties are not there. And not against another DE in round 2. Its not a rosy picture at DE beyond 2017, plus the tread looked pretty thin on CJ and Pep last year .........

CB is scary for 2017, but at least not as bad as DE in 2018+. Sorry, I'm not sold Worley is a quality starter. To me, he might be fortunate to be as productive as Cap his first go in Carolina. After Worley it is 2016 all over again on the outside (or nickel if cap moves to CB2 due to injury), dumpster fire. One giant dumpster fire that makes the Failcons blown lead look common place. Its scary how thin we still are back there. I think CB is a place we can go for again in the draft (Kevin King or Adoree Jackson) for depth. Possibly more vets to get spit duty and we can be OK here. Much better than 2018 DE outlook, but scary ATM with time to shore it up.

Safety, long term issue unless Marlowe really is the guy. I like Coleman, but I think he isn't the guy to lead that DB unit. Think we all saw with Boston v Harper in there, we lost the guy that set the DBs, much as Luke sets the front 7. I'm hoping at least Adams is that guy for 2017. Love to draft Adams, Jamal, if he is that leader we missed back there last year.

LB, DT groups are great. Just get a deal for KK or Star done. Not sold KK is Gmans long term guy. Might flip him and use Butler as the starter. I'm not thrilled if it happens, but there is a sunk cost with him, plus Butler looked pretty good for a raw rookie.  As it stands today excellent group. LB  needs nothing other than long term depth aka Mayo, Cash level replacements. So I wouldn't touch LB unless someone in the draft is an overwhelming BPA late in the draft.

I'm optimistic we have 3 quality tackles if healthy. Oher and kalil the younger can be at least average at LT and could slide to RT if Williams goes down. I actually really think Williams shines at RT this year. Plus Turner could manage LT if poo hits the fan for a game. Overall if the guys are all healthy I'm OK here. G and C are all fine.

TE Greg is great but let's be real, he can't play forever. Maybe his career goes like gates and Gonzales and plays great another 4+ years. That said, I wouldn't bank on it, and Ed needs to be Ex.  Tried last year to fill void and didn't pan out. Think this draft class of TE is much deeper and can produce a solid starter for 2018 or potentially 2017.

WR I'm OK with it, not great, could be better. Think we missed on Brown. Could see him be a solid guy in NE, NO w/ Brees, KC OE even DC. He did not fit as a starter with Shula and the other WRS. Ross would be a win now pick at 8 as we stand today. I like Ross, but he would need a damn fine bill of health and faith that his unlucky health issues are all behind him.

QB. Starter hmm think he is A OK. Anderson, well could use a developmental guy to move at a later date. Webb I like as super sub at WR QB if we get hit hard by injuries in a game, and solid ST. Unless his ST status falters he is a lock. So maybe a later developmental QB else stand pat (say that every year now).

RB, stewie + 3rd down fozzy. Healthy, yeah we are fine. CAP isn't the answer, and stew is not likely here after 2017 (but we say that EVERY year). Like McCaffrey or Fournette for 5 years but likely not in the cards. Either would help lighten Cams load and cover WR deficiencies. Its a deep class and can find some long term starter here, but really want a top flight guy at RB to get the O set as a top 5 unit for the next 3+ years. Honestly think either Fournette or McCaffrey provides us ways to do that with the OL, WR, TE groups.

Captn, Pep, CJ, Adams, all scream 2017 or bust.

IMO we need the 2015 luck again for the 2017 squad to pan out. It will l have depth holes post draft, and bug concerns in 2018.

IMO, the issue isn't Worley or the depth behind him.... it's the glue that holds them together, which is a SS. Coleman is solid but he needs a running mate so that all of the pressure isn't on him.

Bradberry is a CB1 and Munnerlyn is one of the top NB in the game. You add in Worley with a year under his belt to build off of, and honestly, Leonard Johnson isn't a bad dimeback. As a CB2 or nickel... not as sold on Johnson, but as a dime guy, he is quality depth.  We pick up a UDFA or some value guy for depth and add someone like Adams, Hooker, Melinfowu, Baker, Williams or a veteran that gets cut this summer and we are good.

I think the Adams signing was a band aid after the SAF market dried up ridiculously fast.

We have the worst WR core in the NFL as it stands.

How is Dickson still on the team?

I think we should to cut Gano or Lee to free up some space

We need to do something about Stewart's contract. It's ridiculous 8 million for minimum production. I wonder if any team would trade for him.

This draft should allow us to replenish our pass rush for the future! As I said in another thread, Trey Hendrickson and Tarrell Basham are my picks which they should be available in late 3rd early 4th. They have the motor and size but they need to be coached up and developed. Given the depth ahead of them this year will be a redshirt type year for them. After this year I'm sure Pep and CJ will probably retire and that would give those 2 the opportunity to get on the field.

Nice post. I've always voiced concerns over Gettlemans long term vision and he really didnt to much to help us there.

However I prefer the band aid 1-2 year deals with capable starters vs the sitting on his hands approach and not replacing our departing or under performing starters. Like last year. In 14 he tried but failed with guys like Tiquan Underwood.

Im just enjoying  the excitement of things actually happening for now.

I like the thourouhness and effort but doesnt me squat til Sept!!

Sure doesent but at least we finally had some level of excitement. Our biggest loss so far this year is Ginn. Much different than every other year under Gettleman so far.
