Mel Kiper Believes Dalvin Cook Will Fall Into The 2nd Round

What in the hell was a grown man doing with a bbgun shooting property? Whenever I hear of a player doing something stupid I have a flashback memory of the psychopath Greg Hardy. If I'm reminded of Hardy, then you know JR is as well. Mr. Blubbers is not going to allow Cook to become a Panther.

Any team that takes Mccaffrey ahead of Cook is gonna regret it big time.

If he falls to the packers Rodgers got a gift from the heavens.

That assumes they want McCaffrey to be a running back. He is worth a first rounder as a returner and receiver in the slot. The running is a bonus. He is a bigger stronger faster Wes Welker who is surely worth a first rounder.  He may be one of the most athletic players in the draft.  He does everything well. Whoever gets him is going to get an electric play maker.

Cook isn't nearly as capable and has off the field issues.

I think the ideal use for McCaffrey may be the way that Percy Harvin was used by the Vikings. His best season was when he caught 87 passes for 967 yards and 6 TDs and also ran 52 times for 345 yards and another 2 TDs to combine for 1312 yards and 8 TDs total. They moved him around and lined him up just about everywhere. I just don't have any faith in Shula being that imaginative.

Cook would be productive on any team any system. Mccaffrey needs every thing right to be productive.

Stanford is West Coast Alabama You put any RB in that system behind that line and they are bound to be productive.

He was a top 10 pick before the draft because he's a match up guy.

Was he? Or were we just told he was by the pundits?  We don't really know how he was viewed by actual NFL teams, just some self-proclaimed draft experts...and even then, it was incomplete evaluations.

Totally true.  As fans, we kind of have to rely on our talking heads for information and any idea of "quality" or "value" of these guys.  Man, talk about a horrible sentence to write...

We just looked at him from game film.  Dude showed out at FSU.  But then at the end of the season, teams and talking heads, start tearing dudes apart.  It's just what happens.

Sadly, none of us (that would publicly admit it!) have any real insight to a teams big board or how they really evaluate players.

I'd love to have more insight on how teams evaluate talent. I'm sure it varies widely across the league. In particular, I'd love to hear how they evaluate a player like Ross. A guy who would likely be a slam dunk top 15 or even top 10 pick if it wasn't for the injury concerns. How do those concerns factor into a player's grade? Let's say your medical team says he has 4-5 years in him before those knees have degraded to a point that it's going to end his career, but your coaching staff says this guy is a plug and play WR who they think is good for 1000+ yards right out the gate. Is 4-5 probable years of a 1000+ yard receiver on a relatively affordable rookie contract worth a 1st round pick? Yeah, it probably is. Is it worth a top 10 pick? Eh...

Cook was not that productive and has off field issues. McCaffrey lead the NCAA in all purpose yard and was only a junior. He is only going to get better. Stanford runs a combination of West coast, spread and a traditional running attack.  Go.look at field and watch how many yards McCaffrey gets after the catch and after first contact. Folks who don't like him haven't seen him play. It reminds of how many folks criticized Kuechly because he played for Boston college and folks didn't realize how talented he was.
