Meh. No real reason to doubt it overall but will believe it when it happens. Not all that enthused about taking a running back at #8; then again, I don't pay attention to college football. Hope the team can find some decent edge blocking, specifically at the FB and TE positions, if they go this route.

 

Ezekiel Elliott was taken 4th overall. Fournette is a better runner. Based on COLLEGE tape, Zeke was a better catcher out of the backfield, but Fournette wasn't really asked to catch many balls. Fournette is worth a top 10 pick.

Makes sense tho, if there is any team that would love to trade down right now its the Jags.

Again...Gman just said he hadn't even started watching defense prospects. And he's already gonna trade up 4 spots? I refuse to believe the man in charge would be making this kind of decision with half the information. This means either 2 things: Either Gman was lying and he has already watched the defensive guys and he's already settled on Fournette. Or this trade talk isn't true. Either way...there's a ton of subterfuge right now. As with all media...take it with a grain of salt.

 

Just days ago Igo gave us a list of 4 players. And within hours that list only has one name on? Nah. I think it's more likely that ole buddies Coughlin and Gman are trying to raise the value of their own picks by leaking a trade for a specific player who others may want.

A fair point, and a counter-point is that Elliott also runs behind the Dallas OL while a guy like Jordan Howard had much of the production in a far less system and with way less investment. Not saying that Elliott isn't a good/great back because he clearly is, but each position group augments the other. Gurley is a perfect example of what happens when a quality back gets stuck in a poor system with poor blocking.

Again, I'm talking in generalities because I don't follow college FB at all. I am interested in how guys like Zeke and Howard perform in this upcoming year.

There's not much evidence to suggest Fournette was a clearly better runner than Elliot. Elliot had a higher ypc  a and higher totals in yards and tds but with playing 3 more games. I think he's a little more agile. They are pretty close despite the larger hype Fourette gets.

      I may be way off base, let’s include this in that questions thread, but with the way the offensive staff turned on each other in 2023 I am happy to see anyone involved, gone. I had a bad feeling about Caldwell over it.

      No poo tho you might could Jenkins for Legette. They got nothing at WR after the big 2 in Cincy. I don’t think you trade away OL depth. Could get a quality player in cuts. Really that 3-4 end spot what you should be looking for is someone who is stout with long arms and can push back the OL in both the run and pass game for others to make plays…. But we signed Wharton, sometimes I think Evero is a fraud ass nerd who should be an analyst at best.

      you would honestly probably do Monroe Freeling more of a disservice by putting him in a position where is not yet ready to succeed. .we all knew Monroe Freeling struggled at the NFL combine in drills because of technique related issues & would need time to develop  & now all of a sudden before they even put the pads on Monroe Freeling is somehow a starting LT in the NFL ? if he struggled at the NFL scouting combine what do you actually think is going to happen in a live NFL game at LT ? .even our best LT of all time was not ready to start at LT when he was a rookie & he turned out to be a pretty good darn LT by the name of Jordan Gross ...just saying be patient Young Jedis
