Smart move.  Broadcasting seems like the best if you can jump into it.   He's had so many injuries over the years, time to let it go.

I was thinking about all the back problems he's had the past 3 years.  Got to give him credit, he worked himself up from a UDFA to a well paid franchise QB.  No shame in walking away while you can walk away.

Not only did he let the Cowboys give his job away to a lesser player, he allowed them to influence him into retirement so that they wouldn't have to compete against him. Sad, wonder how much Jerry paid him under the table to "go away"

this is exactly what I though, I Honestly think jerry gave him 10 million dollars and the one of the best anchor jobs in the country. But like the other guy said, if he replaces phil simms it will have totally been worth it.

Looks like he will be replacing Phil Simms per PFT. Unsure if that means Simms is being demoted or kicked out altogether.

Either way, that's one way to get your broadcasting career off to a great start with lots of goodwill.

The lesser player won about as many playoff games in one season as Romo did in an entire career.  Romo threw for lower completion percentages and more interceptions every year.  Romo was a solid QB, but they shined under a rookie QB who protected the ball.  He was injured most of the last three seasons and at 37 was going to have a difficult time making it through this next one.  His career will always be as a guy who couldn't win the big one.  In the end, he was a JAG.  No praise from me.

No they shined under a rookie qb who they didn't ask to do much and still left big plays in the field. He played an Alex Smith like role last year. Notice how Tony came in and immediately marched right down the field. It was the best team he's had and he didn't get a chance because of politics, clearly the better qb.

Jerry didn't want him playing for someone else making him look bad, but everyone else wanted Dak. It's why they didn't just release him.
