Late rounder sleeper CB

Ahkello Witherspoon is a guy I feel like would be an excellent fit in our system. Great length at 6'3 with 33" arms and a 40+ inch vertical. He runs a 4.45 and has enough speed in our cover 3 scheme. On the field, was very much a shutdown corner for Colorado and was second in the nation in passes defended allowing a completion percentage of just 26.5. The on-field production is there. The traits are there. He could really be something in our scheme.

I like him. This corner class is crazy deep. And it's a great argument for drafting BPA. Last year we triple-dipped in a position of need and missed out on some talent and went 6-10. This year that position is really deep. I know hindsight is 20-20, but it bums me out a little drafting three cbs last year when this year is so deep.

"While it is a bit cliche to compare big corners to Richard Sherman, the comparison is fair in this case. The two players have similar physical profiles and skill-sets, and Witherspoon would thrive in the same role as Sherman, even though it’s unfair to expect the kind of career and production."

something has to be wrong with him...to run a 4.45 at 6'3'' should put him in the top 2 rounds.

Just shows how deep this draft is

Pretty sure I saw where there were more 6'0+ CBs who ran a sub 4.5 than WRs in last years combine.  This draft is Stacked at CB class.  Most had Desmond King as the #3 CB in last years class and 1st rounder in last class had he come out.  This years he maybe #8 at best and teams are looking at him more at FS with the other CBs this year.

i have a thread on him in the draft board.  Posted the video breakdown vs Washington and he did a real good job Shutting down Ross.

I've been thinking there has to be NFL talent in Washington and Colorado considering the turnarounds those programs made these past few years. Ross, Buddha and Jones are Washington's..but colorado on the other hand..

..maybe this guy is a diamond in the rough

Agreed, I don't think this kid makes it outta the 2nd round.

You want a mid-late round sleeper that fits us.... Jeremy Cutrer.

A lighter version of James Bradberry and similar small school background.  6'2" 183 from Middle Tenn State that thrives in zone and off-man coverage.

Yes, please. Hit the weight room and bulk up another 10 pounds, and we're good on the boundaries.

    • Jack Roslovic: Only 2 other UFA, right-handed centers age 28 or under had more points (39) than him- Sam Bennett (51) and Pius Suter (46). There were 4 other centers age 33 and older who scored more: Gireaux (37), Marchand (37), Tavares (34), Granlund (33).  Unless the Canes go old, if they let Jack walk, they won't get a center who scored more.  Thoughts?
    • nope     This is why we come back every year.  Hope springs eternal
    • It's important to differentiate criticism and hate. I can't speak for that individual you quoted. But most people who have been critical of the Tepper's have been so because both of them have made it a point to put themselves front and center and in the middle of team operations and we have been largely horrific more often than not as a result. If people are making derogatory remarks about her that should be met with an appropriate response but if people are being defensive just because she's being criticized all I can say is people should get used to it. Both her and David would have been getting absolutely skewered by the media and the fans if this were a big market franchise. The Lakers are finally being sold off after years and years of public criticism of Jeannie Buss and even though I'm the furthest you could go from being a Lakers fan just about anyone you could meet who is familiar with the NBA would say the criticism was certainly valid.
