WalterFootball's Latest Mock Draft (4/12) (Hope you realize we are only 2 weeks away from the draft)

Hoenheim

Recommended Posts

R1 P8 : Christian McCaffrey, RB, Stanford , 5'11'' , 202lbs (We've already talked about this ad naseum here. I'll just say I'm okay with this pick)

R2 P8 : Ryan Ramcyzk , OT, Wisconsin, 6'6'' 310lbs  (How the fug does he drop that far? Is he not the top rated tackle in the draft?)

R2 P32: Justin Evans , S, Texas A&M , 6'0'' , 199lbs  (Solid pick)

Pick 98 : Dauwane Smoot, DE, Illinois , 6'3'' , 264lbs  (Pretty solid for our Comp pick, I'd rather get a TE or WR there but okay)

R4 P8 : Josh Malone , WR, Tennessee , 6'3'' 203lbs (Who??)

R5 P8 : Eric Saubert, TE, Drake, 6'5'' 253lbs (A TE with drop problems in the 5th? haha)

Overall The first 4 picks aren't great looking but all solid. R4 and R5 are pretty WTF but admittedly Gettleman always has at least a couple WTF picks in a draft.

Going off of just Round 1 & 2, I would LOVE that draft

No doubt!  Although I can't say I've seen many mocks other than this one where we could land Ramcyzk in the second.  They are just mocks after all though.

You guys just don't seem to get it...

McCaffery + Panthers Offense = DOES NOT WORK

At the NFL level he's not a 20-25+ carry guy, he's your change of pace swiss army nice. He's a match-up player split out / motioned from the back filed.

He's not gonna be our lead back, and at 8, it's way too high. Now if he were to drop to the 2nd @ 40 (which is unlikely) I could see it making more sense. At #8 you need to be drafting immediate impact players. Franchise position players.

Especially if people agree with the Reggie Bush comparisons (Bush was better IMO) and he went 2nd overall that year. However his Franchise impact was minimal. It will be the same with McCaffery.

The Swiss Army doesn't take kindly to being called nice

I disagree. McCaffrey could be a 20-25 carry back if needed, but that is not how he would be used. Line him up in the backfield and shift him out to slot receiver. Or send him on routes from the backfield. No LB other than Luke could cover him.

If you get 10-15 carries, and 5-10 targets, plus punt returns, and he is well worth pick 8. Not sure why he would not work in this offense.
