Gas On The Fire: Bill Voth Says - With Gun Pointed To Head - McCaffrey Likely Pick

Well, for those of you who still are whining about the possibility of McCaffrey, well Bill Voth certainly isn't helping. He seems really confident McCaffrey is the pick.

So much so he says he'd say he's the pick with a gun pointed to his head:

Again, you all know I think he'd help our offense evolve the most, and be an impact player from the get go; more-so than Fournette.

Why he's good can be seen here:

Discuss, and let the meltdown begin!

But in all seriousness, I'm well on record not liking McCaffrey at 8 but there's a not-insignificant chance that Fournette, Thomas, Howard, Adams and Hooker are all gone by our pick and in that scenario I suppose it's a toss up between McCaffrey and Barnett for who I'd prefer.

I had been leaning Barnett for a while but I just can't get the parellel of what Barnett looks like in college and what Everette brown looked like in college out of my head.

So I suppose with the above 5 all gone I'd probably accept McCaffrey.  I'd rather him than one of the WRs and a lot more than Allen. That pretty much covers everyone that's a possibility except the CBs and I haven't done enough research to form a hard opinion on them. I can't imagine Gettleman would spend another pick on a CB after last year's CBonanza. It's possible if he feels the clear BPA when we pick is one of the CBs, but that's require a lot of chips to fall a certain way.

    • Terrible business decision.  Lazy negotiating.
    • I think GM's are more upset than owners Owners spend the same amount of money every year as it's a hard cap with a floor minimum too.  It doesn't really change anything for them (other than possibly make things more difficult on the team in general). But it's the GM's who need to negotiate these contracts who are really going to be pissed, if you're a skill position player that goes in the 2nd round now, you're going to be asking for this, and the higher you're drafted and/or the more unexpected it was for you to not go in the 1st, the stronger your case will be to insist on it.
    • 1 main reason i LOVE this move is because how many times did we see the Rivera or Fox era play older guys who honestly shouldn't have been on the field only to be put there for seniority. Holding a younger guy back from developing and stifling their progression!    This shows me DM is saying fug that! Lets get these young talented guys reps and ready to fn roll!  Coker was great example of that last year trading Johnson mid season.  Having a GM who was also a player i think helps with that mindset. Understanding father time is undefeated and you have to go with younger, faster players even when they don't have a ton of experience.  Love it and each move DM is doing this offseason is getting me to forget how much i hate our owner and back to feeling good about this team. Lets sign a Safety and rock this division this year!
